Hi all. Just got an email from some one about a bow I have for sale in the classifieds. [email protected]

They copied the heading of my classifieds ad (which contains the price in it)and posted into the subject line. The they put this in the body of the email:

"Send me the picture and the asking price"

I replied that I didn't understand and they replied this: "Kindly tell me the price you want to sold Limited edition X-200 from Cabelas"

I revealed the code behind their reply and it showed this:

Virus-free. www.avast.com

So the written English was not great and I replied that I had the price in the ad and they had themselves placed in the subject line. Further since the syntax shows a third party email provider, not from a gmail account, I asked them point blank if they were a scammer. I have not heard back from them.

Just be aware.

Be safe all.

-Will

The same person contacted me, I told them to beat it. Stinks like a scammer to me.

I looked at the ad. I love that bow. Glad you sniffed out the scam.

Last week I had two separate people contact me about two different bows, each offering more than the asking price, both wanting to pay with a certified check, and both wanting to send someone to pck up the bow after I cashed the check, at my bank, of course. I responded with; “where are you located?” No response from either one.

Tenacious lot ain't they? It's just a shame there is not much that can be done to them and they know it. The Gov. won't go after them because they aren't picking/attempting to pick big money's pocket. Just Joe's pocket.

I probably should have mentioned it's not only on this site also on the bow sight forum as well because that's where they contacted me.

I don't sell often and I'm not that anxious so if there's no history or very little spread out over a long time I don't fool with it ,right or wrong.

This may not be news but it was to me. I was given a cashier's check - handed to me by the bank clerk- for sale of a vehicle. I deposited it at my bank and was told that it the funds would not be available for approximately a week.

This involved two banks approximately 5 miles from each other- I guess I have been out of touch for some time. Too easy to print forged checks. I can see why PayPal is relatively popular.
