I'm looking to get a 50's style recurve and have narrowed it down to these two choices. I've shot a Breed at Kalamazoo and have shot several Great Plains bows, but not the Swift Loncurve. Both bowyers make great bows and their craftsmanship is impeccable. I will be getting a two piece takedown. The Breed would be 62" and the Great Plains is made in 58", my DL is 28". Not sure if anyone has any experience with these two particular bows, but just wanted to ask for opinions. Thanks!

The key is going to be how the grip fits. Both bows are well made, and perform pretty much equally. Fit, and how well shoot it is the key.

Both fine bows so it's up to you to choose which fits you best.

I got the 62 inch T.D.Its my second 62 inch T.D. Breed.I think you chose a good length from my experience with that length

For me this bow is as good as it gets in the 50s style recurves. It does everything at a high level.

I like its looks aesthetically as well. The riser is a tad longer than most 50s style recurves and I really like the way he does his riser fadeouts.Very long and tapered till they disappear.

I like the limbs as well.I am a big fan of the narrow deep cored limb.I like his full working limb design. This bow is very fast. Not a requirement for me.But it is.The limbs dampen out quickly which contributes to quietness and lack of handshock.I find it to be accurrate and stable in my hands.

I also like the brass/steel sleeve T.D.Very strong and secure and adds some weight right under your hand.It has a locator grip. The fit is nice and has no slop.I like the small brass/steel sleeve personally

I did replace the stock string with a SBD (Silent But Deadly) 8 strand string and put wool puffs on it.I like it better than the stock string.I would recommend that if you purchase one at some point.I have had good experience with these strings in reducing noise, vibration and a soft/sweet shot.

I have not had the Great Plains longcurve. So I cant advise on that point.I had the G.P Kiowa. It was my 1st recurve about 25 years ago.It was a very good bow!

Why do you want a recurve with that grip? IMO a comparable r/d longbow should be faster and more stable....have you compared? Your thoughts?

I've owned several hybrids, I like them, just prefer recurves better. Really like a sleek profile Bow. My experience has almost always shown a slight performance edge with a recurve as well.

Have a number of hybrid longbows, and the Breed recurve is noticeably faster , that being said;( I prefer a ASL over anything not fast at all)
