This is a Ben Pearson bow, I was trying to find the age on. I've been refurbishing it. I would like to know if anyone knows when this was originally made. It's a Ben Pearson signature bow No. 7330.

It's a 1968, the first year. In 1969 they became 7331 Signature Takedown.

Thanks guys.I was told the old paint was auto primer. It wasn't to hard to sand off.

Those are really good shooting old bows too. You're gonna' like that one.

When I got back into trad/Instinc archery, my first vintage recurve was a BP Signature. Mine was a ‘69. It was a really nice shooting bow. If you like the Signature, you might like the “fancier” versions, i.e., “Silencer” or the “Mercury Marauder”. There are plenty of used/unused Signatures around. The fancier 2 pc BP’s not so much.

I have one of those things. Never shot it. I may have an add for it if you want a copy of it. (if I can find it)

Jon; that would be nice.If you find it pm me and I'll send my address.

Be careful shooting it and/or stringing it ... the glue over the years holding metal to wood could 'let go' ...I've had a few that did just that .... I've had several thru out time and I have one left that Jim Daugherty signed .... glue let go and 'someone' drilled holes thru it to put 'bolts' in it to keep it together .... "bubba-fied" to the max.... (just a 'heads up' for you!)

Wasn't there a BP called the MARAUDER (spelling) designed like that?

BATMAN, look acouple post’s before yours, I was telling Reb about the Silencer and the “Mercury Marauder”. There was also a one pieceBP called a “Mercury Hunter”. They were built with mercury capsules, or “cushions”, built into each limb, near the riser, believed to absorb any handshock. The threaded stainless bolt aluminum knuckle is the only take down I’ve ever liked. I owned a 55# Signature T/D and A 60# Mercury Hunter. The Rosewood riser on the Merc Hunter was just beautiful.

Yes, Batman there was a Pearson Marauder. It was only built for a couple years. I believe it was around 73 and 74. It did not have the Mercury capsules used in the Mercury Marauder. As I remember the Mercury series bows at about this time were not allowed to be shipped to Europe due to fear over Mercury leakage. I've never had any trouble with a capsule leak and I have had and do have several Mercury Marauder and Mercury Hunters. The Marauder had a huge riser for more mass to quiet vibrations. It only lasted a short time due to it's mass weight. I have a picture of one I owned I'll try and post it.

Reb: I found the adds in the Sept 68 and Sept 69 Archery magazines and they show the same Signature take down bow. PM an address and I will mail them off to you.

I seem to remember the Mercury Marauder was one of Jim Dougherty's favorite bows.

Mine too! Jim helped in the development of it if I remember correctly. The one he used most was a 65#, it shows up in several of his hunting pictures.

HeadHunter; thanks for info. Maybe I'll just hang it from ceiling and enjoy it that way. Maybe I'll take a chance I just don't know yet.
