Thank you for your service and sacrifice! Without it, my day would not have been possible. It would not have been part of my life. It would not have been 'American'. So again, Thanks for serving in our country's Armed Forces. It really does mean the world to us!

45 years ago I was a carefree 16 yo in Sherrill, NY, too young to be drafted, living a free mans life, while friends and family were getting wounded and dying in VietNam and I was praying and mourning for them. Four guys I know went over, all came back severely wounded or dead. My sister's boyfriend was one of them. I missed nam by one year due solely to my age. The war ended, but my draft lottery number was #9. 'Someone' was looking out for me. I've been thanking Vets all my life. I am not active duty, but have worked for the DoD for almost 25 yrs as a civilian. I know alot of them. And I appreciate what they have done.

Went in the Navy 51yr, 37days, and 1.5hr ago, but who's counting.

Wars and the Service is a huge interruption in a young person's life whether they are drafted, or volunteer. Seen some not come home and others hurt and lost their previous professions. Saw it take a toll on athletes who lost their talents, business inclined see others take their places, and heard dreamers tell about losing their dreams or loved ones for the time they sacrificed. TIME took on a whole new meaning for those who were in the Service.

I think the recognition should be stronger for the last young generation who volunteered and were not drafted, as they volunteerily gave that precious TIME. A key time of their young lives was taken, leaving thier jobs, atletic talents and potential careers, their families and loved ones behind.

Like most of my generation and my father's generation who were around druing the draft, I didn't want any special recognition for my Time, as I just settled back into what all young people did then, and that was to struggle and work at what I could to get by. However today, I'm proud of my Church who will have a breakfast and all Vets eat free. I think its for nore for the young'uns who volunteered, but I'll eat some pancakes and bisquits and gravy too, 'cause I still appreciate a free meal.

Thanks young Vet Voluteers - Babbling Bob

I joined the army at 17 with 3 buddys of mine to go kick the enemys butts, you know how kids can be,lol. I left for Ft Knox Kentucky for training 46 years ago last Saturday. We didn't feel we gave up anything. We gained the honor of fighting for our country and carried on our family's tradition. I want to thank all those who protected us before and all those who continue to do so. And thanks to those who support our guys in uniform.

I've got a son just out of 3 tours with the Marine Corp and a son in law in the Army going on 4 tours. I worry about them as all parents do. I thank them every time I talk to them and I wish to thank all that have served: Past, present, and future. I hope that all this Football B.S. has shown our Vets that we respect you a hell of a lot more than these immature Athletes. God bless and Thank you.
