I did not want to hi jack “Blue thread” but made these recently. I also nock end tapered them, 11/32 to 5/16. Used the last of my fake natural barred feathers. Next arrows will have the real deal from real Turkeys.

Those are “artificial barred” feathers from Tru Flight. When you put them side by side with wild Turkey feathers you can see the difference in color and pattern. My next arrows will be the same blue but the barred feathers are from wild Turkeys. I bought a bunch from the man that makes the feather rests (Trap) on the gang. I get two 5 in.feathers from each one of those wild Turkey feathers. Been following the posts on dying feathers. Sounds messy but now that it’s cooled off some outside I am going to give it a shot.

For barred feathers nothing beats the real McCoy.

Thanks guys, my inspiration came from looking at pictures of Bear arrows from 1962. Now there was some thought about the blue being easier to see in the desert. After all it’s not a “desert color”. But after trying to locate a couple of these the other day that went AWOL I am convinced no color works the “best”. Oh, I did find my arrows but they didn’t stand out like I hoped.

I like that light blue dip did you mix that or what brand is it?

I used Rustolem 2X spray paint for cap. Made a setup using my Spinrite crester to turn shaft while spraying. Watched the Video. I thought about mixing paint but I don’t use the same colors all the time. In fact my next arrows will be red cap, red and natural greybar. A combo I saw in my 62 Bear catalog. As for dipping, almost have moved on from that process. I still do aluminums that way.
