What vanes shoot well off a springy rest?

I like AAE'S OR MARCO,,wipe the base with acetone or denatured before you apply the glue or they will not stick,,wipe the shaft too,,removes the release agent off the vane.Marco's are softer and Rick Barbee shoots them off the shelf.

Most here have reported that ANY vane will shoot OK off of an elevated rest...

But I’d love to know which ones shoot well straight off of the shelf...

Those strictly speaking… Shouldn’t they cleared the riser entirely anyway, so long as you have the right spine?

GF...yes. I sometimes shoot curley vanes off the shelf..no different than feathers except they're waterproof, resist breeze a bit, and provide longer cast.

I use AAE or NAP’s.

Try shooting cock feather in off the shelf with vanes. You might be suprised.

I shoot both 2" and 4" vanes off a rest, and they both work great.

Back in my compound days never had any problem with vanes off my Springy rest never used any thing but a Springy rest.

Off a "good" elevated rest (a properly configured springy is one) any vane will work as long as the arrows are tuned within reason to the bow.

Off the shelf is a whole different can of worms. Tuning is much more critical. You can't have a "that's good enough" attitude about it.

(1) You've got to get the arrows tuned to as close as you can possibly get them , to give adequate flex around the riser.

(2) You need to get the shelf configured to a minimum width needed, and/or raise the shelf some to keep the fletching from contacting the outer edges of the shelf, and your hand.

(3) You need to use as soft/flexible a vane as you can get your hands on, because "you will" occasionally create contact due to form break downs. The softer vanes will forgive this some.

I use "Marco Soft Vanes", and they work quite well as long as I follow the above steps.

OH yeah, and P.S.

Shoot cock fletch in.

You absolutely cannot beat that fletching orientation for clearance.

That goes for any style, and any fletch.

If you are getting contact shooting cock fletch "in", then your tune is significantly lacking (something).
