What alloy were the old dark green Gamegetters with the soft anodizing? Anyone still shoot them?

I still have some and use them. In fact, I have some to re-fletch the next couple weeks. Easton xx75s/Gamegetters I think. Don't know what alloy they are, just that they are aluminum.

The original green gamegetters weren't xx75. They were a much softer alloy. That's why they bent so much easier and why the color wore off so quickly.

Got some of both then. I think the xx75s are brown camo. The others I have are green camo, I think they say Gamegetters? Haven't looked at them for awhile, they are in a box. Getting them out to re fletch soon. Been sticking to wood for many years, but they are almost gone and need to order some more, but in meantime for this season, I need to do up the alums.

I believe the old green Gamegetters were the Easton 24SRT-X alloy.

TK....camo models are not what they are asking about. The solid green gamegetters preceded the XX75 models and were a softer alloy. They make fine hunting arrows and are not nearly as soft as the old Swift model of the 60's. The coating does wear off quickly if you use them for target shooting.

George, thanks, I learned something today - a good thing. None of mine are solid in color, and are definitely not 'soft'.

casekiska is right. I have some here that are 24SRT-X.

Sold way more of them than xx75 in the 80's. They were easy to straighten. Kind of miss them. Rooty

I wish I had a dozen of them. Not to shoot, but just to have to remind me of where I began in archery. I got my first bow in the summer of 1987, and one dozen green gamegetters.

I didn't like them. The paint wore off way too quick.

Makes for an ugly arrow.

Got my first bow in '81, I think. Dozen green Gamegetters we shot into the hay bales in the loft. Ya, my arrows were all silver almost to the fletching but I shot the heck out of 'em!

they were a bitch straighten! just saying!

I still shoot and hunt with the old GG 2018's

From: Mpdh

Green GG were probably 6061 as Cameron has said. XX75 are 7075. The all green are soft anodized, while XX75 are hard anodized. All the newer GGs and XX75s are made of the same 7075 alloy and are hard anodized.

I straightened a pile of them for a buck each. I only attempted the ones I new I could with an AAE. They are awesome rigs. I bought a new one a couple years ago handy tool. Rooty

I killed my first deer on the ground with one,,

Mostly I shot xx75 orange at targets and gamegetters for hunting till easton started making the Dougherty super natural. I lived their camo color.

They didn't stay green long. :o) Regards

Still have some left in 2020, 2117, 1918, 2419. Most ended up as tomato stakes. They bent easy but not as easy as those tan ones that would just bend the other way when you tried to straighten them. I must have scattered a 100 of them between here and CA.

I miss the weight of the older alloys , but don't miss bending them by just breathing on them. I have not bent a single new arrow (xx75) they snap in half for me , but don't stay bent

From: nrthernrebel05

yes the old green ones were 6061 which bends much easier then the 7075 alloy. I shot several of deer with them from my old wheel bows

I have a bunch of them. Half green anyway.

From: bustedarrow

I also have a few that were gifted to me. There are a few of them that have a logo of an M with arrow through it. Are these guys an early model of the old gamegetters?

From: TrapperKayak
Date: 19-Oct-17

I checked my arrow box and all the ones I have are xx75s. Both brown and green camo, 2117s. All in need of fletching since the vanes I used in rainy western WA have all crumbled off. Time to resurrect these old alums. And order more wood shafts. Right now I have a full quiver for hunting so I'm good, thanks to BOXCALL.

Hated 'em. Good riddance. The new black GG's are fine, just wish they came in 1816.

From: JusPassin Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

I always thought they came bent in the box, LOL at least it seemed that way. Weren't that hard to straighten but didn't stay that way for long. Woodies were better in that regard.
