My kids have been hinting that bow season has been open for 2 weeks, "and we want venison and biscuits." My 11 year old twin's favorite meal;-) Was able to ablige this evening with a nice doe from the woods behind our home. I had gotten busted around 6:00 by a doe and Fawn who got downwind of me. I figured the hunt was done, but waited 10 minutes and grunted twice softly. Immediately, 2 other adult does came in on a string. I'm guessing they were trailing the doe and Fawn but held up in the cover when they flagged off. Maybe the grunts put them at ease again or maybe just coincidence. Anyway, the first doe walked from behind me on my right. I couldn't immediately see the second, but could hear her, so waited to see if it was a Fawn. It was not. She followed the first doe and stopped for a nice quartering shot. Watched her bolt about 60 yards and stop in the scrub oak. I could just barely see her tail. She stood for about 30 seconds and tipped over. No blood trail necessary. Using my '67 Kaibab #50@28. Easton FMJs with Eclipse head. Thanks for looking. And I thank that doe for her gift!

Wonderful! My kids don't understand why I don't bring a deer home every time! Guess opening day deer makes them think that's how it works haha

Congrats. I went again this morning and BAM! I broke down. So, I left it and walked home. I just got in the door. I was dialed in on them too. Saw 8 yesterday. Lord willing it ain't gonna cost much to get running again and, I'll get some meat before too long. God Bless

Thanks guys. WV: I hate car repair. All I see is dollar signs! Hope you get rollin and hunting soon. Shade: had to get her in the cooler quick. It's way warm here for mid October. Hope it cools off soon.
