Just be careful what animals you tick off when you pick your stand site.
I have to admit - I had never given much thought to the hazards of putting up a stand too close to the creek...

We have beavers in our creek most years without loosing a stand yet, but haven't used a nice young popple for a stand tree either close to the water. Did have the neighbors cut down my stand many years ago….course it was on their land! It was back when nobody really paid any attention to "whose land" anybody hunted and it was the only two stumps they left on the hillside and the stand had been there for a few years.

Na, Frsky would rather you hunt on the highway. It's easier on the population since those deer already been killed once. Plus you get the advantage of shooting a pre-aged deer.

who the heck hunts out of a stand that size? I've been seeing more and more of these double sized stands lately in the stores. I can't figure out if that many people want to hunt with a partner or what.

That photo is a hoot.........I can smile because it wasn't one of my stands! A couple of years ago, I had hung a stand up in an oak in August, and by October a bunch of paper hornets had built a nest ten feet higher than my platform. A friend of mine hunted that stand before me and got stung in six different places. He told me the only way he could have gotten down quicker was to jump!

You should team up with Frisky. He could haul you and that stand in on the flatbed and then drive it back out by the road and climb up and hunt elevated. That really is a nice comfortable looking stand. If I ever started hunting from a stand again, I would likely have that kind. Then, when I fell asleep I likely wouldn't fall out. ;~)

I have to admit that I stole that pic! Central Texas Hunting Association had the original on their FB page, I think...
I can see hunting out of a big double stand like that with my boys.... I'd HAVE to share it with them because I think it'd take all three of us to haul it into the woods!

Maybe they don't cut a lot of big trees, but the one on my pond has a huge lodge, and he has girdled and left standing some pretty huge trees. Not all that happy about it. Might nail him if I lived there, but he spends more time there than I do, so I leave him along. The pond is natural, but basically 200 yds square. The current beaver will chase you down in your boat, and let you know what is on his mind wherever you are in the pond.
I know a good source of tails, well I hope they are good. Maybe I should let him know who is boss by putting a few of those on my bows.

Maybe the beaver wants the hardware too. Leave it all out there and check back in a few days; it could get interesting -"Leave it to Beavers" , "Planet of the Beavers"...

Did your tree stand get damaged at all?
Good thing you weren't sitting in it at the time taking a nap while hunting. That would put a new meaning to the phrase "falling asleep."
