I bought a couple decoys to try that for the first time. Plan to purchase some buck and doe urine for use with the decoys. Any recommendations on where to purchase deer urine. Friend told me not to buy off the shelf from local sporting goods store as no way to know how old it is.

Some of the synthetic stuff has no shelf life.

Gonna say something that might confuse you. Years ago, think it was mid 80s, I used Kirschners silvertop. Stuff was like magic. You drug it, they came on a line. A friend of mine asked me for some so I gave him mostly empty bottle and bought another. Didn't work. Seen the same thing with Robbins X rated, James valley, code blue, etc etc etc. Seems some bottles some years have it and another bottle just doesn't. Will say I've taken more deer with James Valley than all the other stuff but I've not had recent success with it. Oh and VS-1, never had any luck with the stuff but least the dealers kids can go to college now. All in all I'd try not to buy leftover stock. And when I use it, it's very sparingly drug so the deer get scent but gotta work at it. Saturated rags have never worked. I also use them never twice in any area or where anyone else is. And in most areas I won't start til the pre rut walk phase. It's not a cure all, even seen deer spook from it.

I don't know... I've used some old doe in heat urine and had good results. Since most of the sexual hormones are steroid based so I'd reckon they'd be pretty stable. They don't freeze it or refrigerate it so probably has a decent shelf life.

I used to use coon urine for cover over my scent killer. And only in rut do i use deer scents: estrus. I've used Tinks 69 and get good reception on real and movk scrapes. I've got experience with the plastic squeeze bottle, glass spray, and gel. Think I have grown partial to the gel. You can stretch it out if you add water, but I think mine may have dried out a bit when I started using it.

Just stop and think here guys and gals. Just how do they collect this urine-enough so to fill the thousands and thousands of bottles sold every year?

I don't CARE how they collect it. I like to use it.

Deer farms with slats in the barn floors. They collect every drop they drop. Same way they make "deer herd in a sack".

as PEARL DRUMS stated and A higher chance of spreading cwd. collect your own when you shoot a deer take the piss bag and put it in a sealed plastic container. then when home put in ice cube trays and freeze when needed take a couple ice cubes in ziploc baggy then place melting cubes around where needed. My best doe in heat involves the wife's participation once a month.

The hock glands from bucks. The bladders from does and bucks. I fail to see how any thing in a bottle can compare. Most folks won't bother so I harvest them from ever deer that comes in to camp. Then crush a pine bough or cedar and rub it on my clothing after I leave truck on the way to stand. Seems to work O.K.>>>----> Ken

James valley, special golden estrous and ever calm are all scents that I have had positive action with. Remember don't put it on the decoy, except for ever calm deer herd in a stick.
