I, too, was interested in trying one of those but never found the right deal. I think you can find one for about 1/2 that price if you're patient. For that price, you can buy a nice used widow, TT, shaffer, etc. Charlie Lamb speaks highly of this model bow (and other Earl Hoyt bows) but I don't think he hangs out on this site. Good luck, Jeff

I've owned a couple of the takedowns (Hawk) as well as the one piece (Eagle) and paid less than $400 for each one. They are well built bows and perform just fine. Unfortunately, I either sold or traded them for another flavor of the day, but wish I had hung on to them. I have seen a few for sale this past year and the asking price is just too much. I would think $450 would be a fair price, but only if in nice shape and at a weight you can handle.

That is a good bow, but I have a hard time seeing $700.00. About half that would be tops from what I've seen. They do show up on Ebay now and again....not a lot but worth keeping an eye out there. I think RMSGear had one not too long ago for probably half that price.

Of course, if it's The Grail for you.... Priceless!

But ALSO of course..... I don't believe in the The Grail of Bows. Seems to me they're almost all good; this market is hugely intolerant of Junk. WE might each have a style of grip that we favor, but if you can't hit with a particular bow... It's likely not the bow's fault.

May I suggest a Martin Hatfield. Nice wood, good finish, solid weight in hand. I find mine to be steady to hold, quick, and quiet. The problem like most of my bows they are too heavy for me these days.Of course if it is one of those you don't like the looks of, that does you no good. I also like a Chek-Mate and a Jeffery. All are way less money.Good luck in your search.>>>----> Ken

In my misspent youth I went to 3-d shoots all over NV, NoCal, WY, NE, AZ even some ID. Late 80' to early 90's

You got to see every big name custom and commercial trad bow out there.

I asked guys if I could try their bow, and every one was proud and gracious, and let me.

One night at the local shop, a guy was shooting a SKY Hawk td recurve. He let me try it. That thing was awesome. And by awesome I mean it fast smooth and quiet.

I kept thinking about how great that bow was for years, and then I met a young guy at the range in AZ shooting one in the late 90's. He let me try his, and it was a awesome as I remembered.

life changes things happen and 10 yrs later im getting back into bow hunting, the internet has sprung up, there are archery message boards. Its easier to search nation wide for something.

I was able to round one up in 2006 and its still THE best bow I've ever shot.

I wish I'd bought a truck full of them when they were still being made.

Now they are such treasures that they never show up anymore.

Combined with the Earl Hoyt collector value, its starting to get to the point where....if you see one listed you better jump on it. They don't last long. I missed out on several this way by being indecisive.

Pictured (if it shows up) is a lefty I acquired as by-catch in my quest for lighter geezer friendly limbs.

They are good looking too!
