I used to use custom king tapered cedar. Had a bunch of them and ran out. They stopped making the tapered shafts. Who has used wapiti tapered and how do they compare if you've used both tapered shafts??

Kustom King is my favorite place to buy the few things I need. They are great people and would probably tell you exactly who they bough them from, or who did the tapering.

I haven't used kustom king, but have been buying Wapiti tapered shafts for the last 8 years or so. Weights are very close, very few require any straightening (minor), and nicely sanded. If there's any better, I haven't tried them. I'm totally happy with them, and will continue to buy from wapiti until either they stop making them, or I stop needing them :)

I bought a handful of tapers (full-length) from Wapiti as a test-kit. Each shaft was marked with an exact spine rating (down to #1); straightness was a good as I could see it, they all rolled smoothly across a glass table-top, and the nock tapers all seemed to be right on.

Now, the knucklehead who did the POINT tapers clearly needs some remedial training....

FWIW, Sure-wood will taper arrows for you as well - it's an optional service thing at 6 bits/shaft.... But if you want to buy Cedars from somebody else, Sure-wood will taper those for you at the same price, I believe.....

I've used wapiti shafts for many years and simply found them the best.

When I was a kid a local guy made tapered shafts from Acme cedars. When I got wind that Rogue River was starting up, I put in a request for 75 pound spine 11/32 heavies. That is what flew out of my Schulz longbows the best, I went through dozens of them. They were all within 10 grains of the first batch. When they sold and became Wapiti, I have seen no reduction in quality, but I understand that those high spined heavy 11/32 shafts are harder to come by. We can thank certain politicians and government people for giving the Japan exporters priority for the best available cedar. They only want the best for their ceremonial stuff.

Dink's Feather Shop (dinksfeathershop.com) has excellent matched tapered shafts. I have done business with Dink for years.

Jim Curlee did Kustom King's tapered shafts / arrows for years. He has since retired from the business.

I used KK tapered shafts several years ago until I switched to Sitka Spruce. Couldn't get them from Hildebrand, so ordered 2 dozen tapered POC from Wapiti 2 months ago. They are VERY nice shafts-straight, matched well across 2 doz, marked individually for spine/weight and have a very nice smooth finish. I like them a lot.

KK were my absolute favorite shafts the best. I have some left over about 100 but that's it.

Wapiti tapered shafts are what I have been using this past year. They fly very straight and have good GPI for my setup. Not the fastest but fly straight.

I taper my own, no jig, just by hand with sand paper. I can do a dozen in 15 minutes. It's easy once you get the hang of it.
