I have some .250 spine Easton Full Metal Jacket Dangerous Game arrows and I want to put a footing on them. I am hoping somebody can tell me what size aluminum shaft will fit properly. I tried a 2016 and it was too small.

Would a broadhead adapter ring suit your need?

An FMJ is aluminum/carbon isn't it? There should be no need for a footing. I've never used them though so others may know a lot better.

The shafts are pretty tough but they use the HIT inserts and from what I've read, the end of the shaft before the insert is the weakest spot. Plus I would like to stiffen the arrow a bit.

Adding a footing will not stiffen the shaft, the opposite would be true if the footing had weight to it. If you want stiffer, you could cut half an inch off of it if you have the room to do so.
