Folks, the 9th and the "FINAL" Pre-Spring Arrow Fling, hosted by the "American Traditional Archer", will be at Tannehill Historical State Park in McCalla, AL, February 23rd, 24th & 25th, 2018. I'd like to thank ALL that have helped and supported me over the last 8 years.

This event has also helped me to raise and donate over $42,000.00 to the local Boy Scout Camp that sits adjacent to the Park. Of course without the generous donations from many outstanding bowyers, archery companies, Vendors, and many others, all I'll get to later, it would've been nearly impossible to raise that much money.

I'll keep posting more and more information concerning this event along the way.

Thanks

Terry Harris

Folks, being that this will be my last Pre-Spring Arrow Fling, and as most of you know I use this event to help raise money for the Boy Scout Camp that sits adjacent to the Park, I'm looking for any of you that would like to donate something to help me make this the largest fund raiser yet.

So far, over the years, I've donated over $42,000.00 to this camp.

Folks, here's the Tannehill General Store. If you're camping, primitive or RV, this is where you'll pay to camp.

Terry Harris

Don't forget the Sweet Shop, great ice cream and home made milk shakes.

Let me also add, I should have put in here with the photo of the main gate. When you camp at Tannehill, you don't pay a gate entrance fee.

If you're not camping or staying in a motel or even locally and you're coming back and forth, you need to pay one time to enter the Park. After that, the Park has given me Park Passes to give you all so you don't have to pay again.

The bridge you cross that connects the maim Park to Farley Field. Farley Field is where all the activities take place.

BTW, if you look to the left while crossing the bridge into Farley Field, you'll see the Grist Mill.

Looking ahead into Farley Field, you can see one of the three bathhouses in Tannehill State Park, two are up in the main areas of the Park. There are also plenty of hook-ups for camping as well as unlimited primitive camping around Farley Field.

You can also see the pavilion where the registration takes place.

Hope to make it this year. It is a very good event and really hate to see it go away. Pappy

Pappy, rumor has it that the Buck Hollow Buckhunters Club, in Dickson, TN, will take the dates for the Pre-Spring Arrow Fling, which will be a three day event starting in 2019. The dates in 2019 should be February 22, 23 & 24, 2019.

Not sure if it will still be the same name, but I think they'll work as hard as possible to make it a great event.

James, never been to Baltimore, but, I've always prided myself on how I put out my courses. I've always believed a course should not only be challenging but also be fun. I believe you'll find it will be worth the trip, many others have traveled farther and still do.

Camping is a first come first serve. There are approximately 300 improved site within the Park, three bathhouses and nearly unlimited primitive camping. Check out Tannehill's web-site:

This event and the Howard Hill Classic i'm afraid will be solely missed and will be the epitome of "You don't know what you have till its gone" analogy!

So don't be the one who says "I wish I would have gone when I had the chance".

Terry I for one will surely miss this and the HHC and have appreciated all you have done to promote Traditional archery, thanks.

Dan, this is the second time that I'm aware of that you've made this sort of comment about my event here.

I've been putting on the Pre-Spring Arrow Fling for 8 years and promoted it like I'm doing now.

Now Dan, I'm sure you're a good guy and give away lots of stuff and I think that's a very noble thing.

I'd like to think that this event has given some pleasure as well to the hundred's of people that have attended, bought bows and other hunting and archery items.

Not to mention, I have been able through the generosity of many of the best Vendors & Bowyers out there, through their donations, been able to raise over $42,000.00 to a local Boy Scout Camp I also use to place some of my targets.

I don't know why you're singling me out, there are others here on "stickbow" that promote a long time as well. Case in point, the IBO Trad World doesn't happen until July. Are you also going to their Thread and getting in their business as well.

Maybe somewhere, you'll find happiness Dan, good luck.

Dan,

Its obvious you haven't been on LW long enough to realize that this event and the Howard Hill Classic have a long tradition here.

And a great many admirers the events and the Guy and his crew who put in the hours and days to make it happen twice each year.

You won't fine a gentler and friendlier person than Terry Harris and a man thats goes out of his way to please a person.

I'd welcome you to come to Alabama, and visit Tannehill Ironworks State park and see if you wouldn't change your tune. Its a blast and has made a mighty good many memories for me and my buddies!

I don't post a lot, I tend to stay in the shadows. But, I have to say that my loving and supportive wife Val and I help Terry and his wife Rhonda put this shoot and the Howard Hill Shoot on. God blessed us with friends that are willing to help us. We don't do it for money or recognition.

We do it to promote Traditional Archery. We do it to raise funds for the Boy Scouts camp whose property they so graciously allow us to use.

If we did it for money, trust me, we all would be owed not only money but the time invested. I use 2 weeks of vacation a year and Terry works year round promoting. Then works his butt off once the shoots begin.

As we set targets we try to figure how can we make the next years event better. With Terry it is never ending lol

I will say this... The friends and friendships that I have made over the years helping Terry have been worth every second, minute, hour, day and every drop of sweat.

It is truly a lobor of love. Thank you Terry for allowing me to participate in the journey.

I want to say a big thank you to each and everyone of you that has ever chose to come to a shoot we put on.

Is the shoot IBO rules?

From: THarris
Date: 10-Feb-18

James, the rules are a little more simple. The optional 1st round competition is set up like the Howard Hill Classic.

Safety 1st : NO Elev. Rests, String Walking, Stabilizers, Mech. Releases, Sights or Bino’s

At Least 1 Finger Must Be Touching Arrow

Longbow & Recurve (Wood, Aluminum or Carbon Arrows) : Self Bow (Wood or Cane Arrows Only)

No Minimum For Field Points Men's or Women’s Divisions :

There isn't a Recurve Unlimited Class.

Now, with all that said, the rates are the same and one may use any traditional set- up they'd like and shoot all weekend for fun, SPECIAL WEEKEND RATES!
