I was wondering who might be the biggest broadhead collectors in here. Well, maybe not the biggest but who is really into it?

Can only speak for my self, I have almost 1700 different broadheads, plus 2-3 hundred traders. I am always looking for the next good head, but very seldom find anything in flea markets, garage sales or estate sales in southeast Kansas.

Several of my friends have larger collections, but I don't know if thet frequent this site.

Bob. Do you think like Bill that that was an Ace late 20s or early 30s head.

If you magnify the ferrule you can see where it has been ground to make a barbed blade. I think it is a Hi-Speed from the 40's made into a barbed head. If it was done at the factory I think they would have die stamped the blade and then mounted it into the ferrule and not have mounted the blade and then grind it into a barb. And the ferrule does match a 1946 Ace Hi-Speed.

One of the best collections was put together by Floyd Eccelston. (Also was a very nice gentleman!)

I gathered a cigar box full of broadheads since the late 70's. Then I joined the ABCC in 2009, and now have around 1600 heads, fish points, small game.

It is tough to see authenticity of a head in a picture and you have the right idea of getting these out. If you want to find out for sure if the head is original or has been altered, I would get one in the hands of deadhead4 and Marvin Whitehead. They are very knowlegdeable, and will definitely give you a straight answer.

I can't find your other thread with the picture of the head in question. What is the title or would you post it on here. Thanks!

Tell you what, Dave, get me one of those heads and I will discuss it at the ABCC annual convention that I am hosting in June of 2018. Last year, we had about 30 of the most knowledgeable collectors in the country. This picture is just one of many conversations around broadhead identification.

Wow! I knew folks liked collecting them but never dreamed the number of heads were in the collections were so high.

I would love to see some pictures of a few of the "best" (for lack of a better word) heads in the collector world. Like most valueable, rarest, biggest, smallest or weirdest.

Consider purchasing Wade Phillip's historic book on broadheads. Lots of pictures and history reference.

Not going to post a bunch of picture's, but here is one from Wade's book. Personally I have one of them, the small Roper's.
