But I can't let this incident go without expressing my utter surprise and gratitude. As some of you may recall, I started a thread seeking advice on which handheld GPS I should buy, seeing as how I knew nothing on the subject. The next post after mine was from Ghostman, offering to send me, free of charge, an unused Garmin eTrex unit he didn't need. And, he did! It even had two Duracell AA batteries in it! I also saw that the postage was $7.40 and it was carefully boxed. Wow, just wow! I wasn't asking for any freebees, just some buying advice. This site isn't your normal internet forum. It's more like a brotherhood. The only way I can think of to "pay it forward" for guys like Mike is to take them fishing on the "Wild And Scenic" Myakka River for the much sought-after snook and redfish. I live on that river and know it like the back of my hand. Mike, and other kind souls are always welcome in my boat if they happen to visit Southwest Florida. I'm just overwhelmed!

That is awesome. Got chased by a big gator at the Myakka River State Park when I got out of boot camp back in 73!

Yeah, your big gator has probably gotten a lot bigger since then. We've got some monsters here. One of the pleasures us oldtimers indulge in is frightening the tourists with lurid tales of man-eating gators, sharks, and stingrays. Plus, in addition to all the snakes and blood-sucking insects, there's even a chance you might run into the infamous "Skunk Ape." My late cousin swore to is dying day that he came face to face with a Bigfoot while camping on the Myakka back in the 1970's, and no other possibilities I could suggest would convince him otherwise. C'mon down!

The generosity and trust demonstrated on this forum is amazing to me also. Just recently I made a deal to purchase a dozen 1816 shafts from "Chas" (here on LW), and to my surprise he shipped the arrows in an arrow box, included the inserts, each arrow had a green nock installed already, and he shipped BEFORE receiving my payment!!! The deal in my mind was for 12 bare shafts only, and I got inserts and nocks to boot. The postage was $7+ so my $30 payment meant Chas was paid only $22 for 12 shafts in mint condition.
I was very pleasantly surprised, and hope I can pay it forward some day when a circumstance arises.
Be safe and shoot'em straight.

Excellent! But it doesn't surprise me. That kind of generosity is pretty common here. :o) Nice gesture, Ghostman.
