Three shots at 20 yards, it feels a little shaky drawing my bow, but did ok.

Arrows Cedar

Everyone have a great weekend and the start of Autumn, I wish our leaves would at least change color. They do but nothing like up north.

I threw in my Boxcall hat, that is the first thing I put on everytime I shoot, I don't think I can shoot without it. Congratulations DAO on your win of your boxcall hat. We may have to start a club....chuckle.

Best 3 arrow group I could get after about 20 or so arrows-lol while laying down "prone position" 18 yrds.

got American Archery x-48 55# from my stable and strung it for today's shots. first 4 shots cold from 25yds. The bottom most is the first shot.

Did not hit the target, but I'll take the line/group for what it is.

been a while and forgot how this bow shoots. not the fastest, but wow, it feels mellow.

hope everyone have a good day today! -ted

Here's a couple shots from yesterday. I went to work in the dark and came home with dark falling fast, so I grabbed a bow and a pair of arrows that I left setting on my mantle and headed out in my shirt and tie. From beyond 25 yards, I couldn't even make out the orange disk against the white backstop, so I took two shots from there...with no idea where they were hitting. With my phone camera flash turned off, the shutter speed was really slow, and you cant hardly make out the bow, the two arrows , one of which caught the bottom of the disc and the other hit 5 inches left. It was a good lesson...I wont be taking any shots at game in such low light!

I had to PM Fiero Furry and really ask if he did shoot from belly down lying down position, and he told me yes, it can be done...

so I tried it.

wow, it can be done... I "hit" the target, and that's about all I can say about this shot, but I can see some potential here.

Nice job Dao! Just use your stomach muscles a tad more to raise up a few more inches so your lower limb don't contact the ground-excellent. I'm busy still putting on stuff for the chigger bites-haha!

Dao - did I count 18 paces? Good poke for a new trick!

Fiero Furry, not sure if I can get up more... :(

GF, my legs are short, so that shot is about 15yds.

LMAO - probably no shorter than mine, brother!

2 from about 12 - low/left and just plain low, although I have to say that I got such a slap off of the riser window on that second shot that I seriously doubt I would've had a stationary target.

Oh… Wait, wait, wait! What I MEANT to say is that I held a little bit low on purpose because I knew that deer would be dropping!!!!

Two more from 12, flat on my butt. Right, then left. Think I'll stick to shooting off o' my knees.

Since I missed Thursday's shot, I did it as a make up. 17yds with feet facing the target. High and a hair to the left.

Good afternoon, nice shooting!

Shot at 15 yards, sitting on my bucket. I love my Box Call hat. It's the only hat I've ever owned that felt like an old friend the first time I put it on. I can't wait to get a little blood on it.

Thanks Chad and have a good one everybody.

The club is holding their last shoot of the year this weekend. So this is target #1 from 17 yds elevated. Wearing my lucky Box Call hat using the Lamp with GT blems. Wish I could say truthfully that the other 29 looked like this one :) Thanks for the call CD

Finally got out late this evening after a crazy hot day. 90 degrees in Michigan September just feels wrong. Shot the K-4 and doug fir from 22 yards on one knee, quartering ever so slightly. Arrow is high and left of where I wanted. Thanks for the call CD. Best to all.

Great videos guys, thank you. With the back and neck issues I have, if I tried a shot like that I'd have to go to the ER afterwards, lol.

From: Barber

Took my first shot this morning about 8:30. Around 18-20 feet up a tree at a very nice 8 point. Went just barely over his back and he was quartering away about 25-30 yards. Maybe another day !

I watched the videos at dusk and had to rush outside with a clean "dog towel" and fling arrows from the prone position.

Only 4 of 10 arrows made it to the target, but the mosquitos loved the show. I put the towel down because I found 4 ticks on me this afternoon, but none had latched on.

I posted my "shot in the dark" efforts from Friday evening. Sunday my first shots were...surprising. I shoot a lot of old arrows, mostly Micro Flite ,some other fiberglass and older aluminum. The first shot involved a nock failure on release, one side of an old speed nock breaking off and creating a nice welt just behind the corner of my mouth, but, more worrisome, something approaching a dry fire with a 1961 Gordon>Browning Explorer prototype, my go-to bow. Inspection of my face and the bow revealed no other damage, so I nocked up another arrow.

The second shot produced the same result! Except this time the nock split in half and one half apparently hit my lower lip ,producing small tear and a fat lip minutes later! Again, inspection revealed a bit of blood but no damage to the bow. So I switched to arrows with "modern" Bohning nocks . Hit the orange disk with both so I retired for the evening while my luck was back on an upswing.

I learned my lesson and will be replacing all those old plastic nocks on my old arrows. My face cant be made noticeably uglier, buy I do want to keep my eyes and my old bows in good working order.
