I love my vintage bows, but I sure wish Ken was still in business. Here's my longbow. 65" #60 . Hope to find one of his recurves someday. Show me some WS bowporn!

My third. This one shoots like a bow several pounds heavier.

Actually, I'm not so sure that wasn't my first. Maybe there is another picture stuck in here somewhere. This was my second.

Ken is the best of the best and an absolute gentleman to deal with ...

Here's number three. The first picture was number one

I don't have pics, but I've got his Phoenix takedown in bacote & coco...53# @29". As mentioned, shoots MUCH "heavier". Fast, smooth, quiet.

Also have his one piece RD longbow...same specs...same results.

My wife & son each have his Maurader 3 piece RD longbow, and as great as mine is, these are even better!

Yes, Ken is every bit as mentioned...a true gentleman, true to his word, a pure artist of the craft, and a LOT of fun to shoot with.

He's a fellow Cheesehead, so I drove up to his hood to pick up my/our bows, and we sling a few arrows.

I understand why he bowed out, and can't say that I blame him...but, who knows what the future holds, eh?

I owe a debt of gratitude to some fine folks who steered me his way a few years ago...Dan, Chris, & Justin...more great guys and a few friends I "met" here on LW?

I'll also add...every time I read a thread on custom vs production bows, and read the posts of guys blasting customs...I know they've never shot one of Ken's.

If they had, they'd sing a different tune.

I never have tried one of Ken's bows either, but I'll agree with Rick here. I have a very nice custom and can't understand how some guys discredit the custom bowyers we have. Those are some nice looking bows.

I've had a few. If that bow had of been 70# it would have never left. Amazingly flat shooting bow. Rooty

Keep an eye out on the forums. I seen several going fairly cheap.

Awesome bows built by a heck of an awesome guy. It is too bad he doesn't build anymore, but he wanted to move on and I respect that. Mine was one that he had sitting on his site, shoots like a dream: smooth, quiet, and fast... the lines on these bows are awesome. 50 @ 28" one piece 60" phoenix.

I prefer small riser one piece bows but I made an exception for a Whippenstick bow. Two of them, actually. My first was Brad's first, 41#@29", 60". Amazing speed, smoothness, beauty... I can't imagine a better bow. The Phoenix has huge curved tips and a sort of double deflex curve on the limbs.

I've only tried the Phoenix take-down. I'd love to get a Marauder.

Oops that last one was a bit big. Here's another.. smaller I hope.

I started talking to Ken about getting one made but didn't act fast enough. Before I could make up my mind he stopped making bows. As do many great bowyers. I think we have to pay more for custom bows so these bowyers can stay in business! Or they should charge more... even if we don't want to pay more.

Here's my 2nd Phoenix. It's slightly different than many of the others. 45#s, 62", cocobolo and macassar. The limbs are cocobolo. It looks like two different bows in shade or sun so I took pics of both and put them together.

I have one of his last Marauders in left hand and a Firehawk in right hand. Both are super bows and so is Ken! I wish he was still building bows too

When my son and I drove up to a trad shoot north of Ken's place, to pick up Matt's bow...Ken said, "Matt, you got the last one (maurader), and the only reason you're getting it is becaused I promised your dad I'd build it".

That's the kind of guy he is...he honored a promise from months earlier.

I look forward to a few summer trad shoots to hook up with Ken, Chris, and a few other new friends. Good times!

By the way...the only reason I haven't sang praise before this, is due to a request from Ken. He wanted to keep on the down-low.

I'm only posting now because he's moved on...I don't think he'd mind...at least I hope not!

Ken IS a phenomenal bowyer, I say is because I'm hoping this is a short sabbatical. I am fortunate enough to own 3 Phoenix's, 1 WS longbow, and yes, a Marauder. I believe the Marauder is the finest longbow I've ever shot.

Not only are hos bows works of art, they are of superior design.

Last picture is my Whipplash, 80lbs at 27".

Wolflord, I used to own that Whipplash. Great bow. I like to see how these bows travel around. It was in MO, then a guy in TX got it, then came to me in CO, then I sent it to Canada, then it came back to the states, and last I saw it was with another guy in MO, and now you have it.
