To keep from getting bored in my retirement years I find creation in bow design very interesting. I believe I am on to the most high performance progressive traditional bow I have ever made. 62" length semi - recurve.

Is this like those jokes about "How do you keep a knucklehead in suspense?"

Was this bow name supposed to be "DELICIOUS"??? Let me order out for Pizza and Root beer while we are waiting for some kind of illustration???

I am willing to be the reason he is naming it DELICIOUS is because of all the animals he is planning to kill with it. :') DANNY

Read the subject line again...it's not "Delicious", he has "Delious". On purpose or typo?

I have always been curious about super high performing bows. My 65 year old wife is starting to think that a hot shooting 35 pounder may be the way to go. She is incredibly poundage sensitive, I cannot feel five pounds, she can feel one.

My wife just admitted to me that she made an error in the spelling. The name is: "DELIRIOUS". The reason for this name is I have not shot a recurve bow since the 60's. In the 60's I shot Bear Super Kodiak, Jack Howard Game Master, and Shaffer Silver Tip. I don't know what pulled me back to shooting the Howard Hill longbow but I sold all my recurves and went back to the simple longbow.

I remember when I got rid of my recurves and took my 85# Howard Hill longbow to the top of the mountain at Glacier Bay AK. The bear come to this area after feeding on fish in the fall. There are some wild blueberries still available in this high country. So they end of here just before hibernation. I made a stalk on a large bore blackbear. The terrain allowed me to get within 30 yards of the bear. There was a slight glacier wind coming off the glacier at this time that worked to my advantage. One had to be careful though that the glacier wind did not blow the arrow off the shelf at a critical moment. This was about the 3rd day of my hunt. When one packs into this country one has to go extremely light. No trails, Devil clubs, heavy fern, Alder patches, rocky cliffs and straight up until you get above timber line. I had been eating on rations and tarmegan that I had taken with my bow. In those years being young and strong thinking I was King Kong I didn't even pack a firearm. I believed that I could take any bear out with my 85# Howard Hill longbow. It was just a matter of draw, aim and release with one continuous motion and put a broad head arrow right though his brain as he charged me. Just like Howard would have done. Now back to the bear hunt. I had stalked the bear to approximately 30 yards when I peaked over the low blueberry bush that covered me from the black bear. As I was endroctrinated in those years to shoot with one continuous motion, draw, aim and release my Microflyght glass arrow with a Bear razorhead was on its way. The shot went high but did contact the bear right over the shoulder. He jumped and snorted as though he had been stung by a bee. As he scanned the area and tested the wind to my surprise he went back to eating just like nothing had happened. I calmed my nerves still crouched down behind the blueberry bushes. This time when I raised up and took my one continuous motion shot he stepped forward drawing my attention to a clear spot on his skin behind the shoulder. I put the arrow right to the mark. Its been my experience from killing AK game that bear die pretty easy compared to other animals. Within 20 yards he collapsed. He made a roll or two from his momentum from running and then lay there motionless. My arrow had passed clear through the bear.

In closing in my retirement years am I delirious because I made a semi-recurve bow - time will tell. Moosejaw Gary Sentman

Hello Gary,

So, how is the bow going? Would like to hear more about it and what you like about it. How is it different from your usual bow?

I guess you are out hunting at the mo. but when you have time...It would be good to hear your thoughts.

Cheers Alex
