I recently bought a lot of arrows and shooting accessories along with a couple of recurves from someone. Anyway I have 2 2117 Easton and 4 2018 Easton aluminum arrows that are like new and uncut . I shoot carbons and have not shot aluminum for about 12 years. What spine carbon are these aluminum arrows equivalent to. Thanks for help !

Static spine would be 420 @ 28" on the 2018 and just under 400 on the 2117.

Your 2117 spines 81#@28" on the AMO standard, it will loose 5# for every inch longer than that. The 2018 is 67#@28" and will loose the same amount for every inch longer.

Oops forgot the 2117's are stiffer than 2018's. The latter shoot well for me from a 55 lb recurve. Hit like hammers, too.

I shoot 2117's from all my bows, both recurve and longbow. Bow wts are 55-57# at my 2" draw. I cut all my 2117's 28 1/2", use 125/135/160 grain heads and the arrows fly straight and true. Tried a few 2216's but they are stiffer even though the raw shaft wt is the same as 2117.

2117 is a damn stout shaft!
I seem to do best shooting 2016s out of #55 recurves (27.75" + 125 points drawn about 27"-27.5" AMO); #55 RER Vortex (R/D LB) shoots the 2016 fine, too. Once fletched. But should probably go 1916 or maybe 2014 for bare-shaft. #50 Howatt Bamboo Viper... not sure if I should go down to an 1816 or just stick with wood.
And FWIW, the 2018 is a great, hard-hitting, and extremely durable shaft, if you don't find them too stiff and don't mind the weight/speed implications. Shot them for many years but have come to appreciate that 2016 is a better match for my draw specs...

Stealth2...try a 2016, 2018 or 2114 on your 55-57# bows...you will be pleasantly surprised at the increase in speed and flatter trajectory as 2117's seem very, very stiff except with a lot of head weight.

Yeah, I go back and forth between 2016s and 2018s too. Both are great out of my 55#ish bows. I've got a 28" draw and cut them at 29".
