I picked this beauty up from a fellow waller about 3 months ago. I had shot her a few times but hadn't given her a lot of time until this evening. Wow, she was really working well and then I heard the snap, crackle and pop.
Late 50's Root Game King longbow. Very sad night. Looking for another if anyone has one they'd part with. So smooth. And, drilling center from 15 tp 22 yds.
Sad night, T4

I can't imagine having that happen with a persons favorite, or near favorite, bow.
Hopefully you'll find another one soon.
Good luck.

That sucks. The old Roots are as good as they get. Glad to hear ya just got grazed. Hope you find another, as its hard to loose a favorite.

In the distance a faint rendering of Taps is played. A moment of silence afterwards for your bow. I hate to see old ones go, but she went out shootin'!

Sorry about your bow. Got me thinking about the old Bear Polar I want to shoot. Just last week one of our group lost his Damon Howatt the same way. He was getting good with it as well. Looked like the wood lam just dried up so much you couldn't see where the glue was.

Hahaha...All I shoot is old relics. Been shooting them a long time. I try to shoot the old stuff nearly everyday. This is the first to blow up on me. I can buy 6 or 7 quality bows for the price of one custom. My buddy just had a 4 year old Howard Hill blow up. The difference between his and mine??? $450.
I'll take my chances on the old stuff. They gots the MOJO.

I've had a couple old bows go at full draw and two self bows. Takes awhile to pull to full draw for a couple of days. Glad you didn't get hurt.

I've often wondered about the old bows breaking but I've got 6 now that just seem to shoot fine. I'll be hunting with a '59 Tarbell this year.

Can old laminated all-out bows be revived in a heat box?

Sorry about your bow, it's a bummer. I often wonder about my '56 Bear Polar. It must have been stored right by the previous owners. It doesn't seem dried out at all. The original leather grip almost looks new. If the leather grip was cracked and dried out looking, I'd be wary of shooting it However, every time I shoot it, I do look closely to see if there's anything showing, like a crack in the limbs or whatever. It's my oldest bow, and I hope it stays in one piece. I had my friend's Osage self bow come apart at full draw last fall, and it was pretty painful in more ways than one.
