Which hybrids, or strongly deflexed/reflexed bows, are known to be the quietest?
Thanks in advance for your input, Skychief.

Never heard a bow so quiet as a Centaur Dark Matter. Never shot a bow as smooth as that bow either. Amazing, just when I thought I had shot and seen them all.

The quietest longbow that I have ever shot is probably a Pronghorn longbow. They are amazingly quiet.

Lot of quiet bows out there if set up right. All the bows listed above can be loud if not set up right.
I can take most any bow and get it hunting quiet but I may or may not like the final product performance wise.
Proper tune , heavier arrow , brace height and string and silencers all play a part. A good release will do wonders.
As much as I liked the Pika I had it was not the quietest bow I ever shot. I think it had more to do with being tillered for split finger and I shoot three under along with just shooting 9gpp arrows.

As one fellow mentioned, quietness is a product of tuning. They are all easier to quiet down than a recurve so just pick one that fits and shoots well for you. Quiet will happen after that.

I can get my Morrison Shawnee and ACSs as quiet as I need. Somewhat less radical, my one-piece Liberty Chief and J.D Berry Taipan are quieter yet. Generally, I've found that glass/wood laminated limbs are quieter than carbon/wood/foam laminated limbs, at least they have a somewhat lower pitched sound at the shot.

My Shrew is the quietest bow in my herd that includes a Morrison Shawnee, Widows, Great Plains D bow at 68 inches (which is pretty darn quiet , too, Checkmate, Aspens, and others of hybrid and lesser reflex deflex design. The Shrew is 60 inches and 52 lbs. at my 30-inch draw. It is the lightest poundage going up to 58 lbs., and I like shooting a little heavier woodies from 650 to 750 grains. None of them are loud with a clean release and a little tuning, but the Widows take double cat whiskers. I

Not sure if anyone else said this. Quiet is far more about string material and construction than it is about bows. The quietest bow I have ever owned is a 1960 Kodiak with a FastFat string (half B50 and half 8125g). And I have owned a lot of deflex/reflex bows, recurves, and static tips.

Their are a lot of quiet hybrids. No point in narrowing it down to one or two or this one is the quietest of all.
Right string, right silencers, silencer placement, right brace hieght, right arrow and a good release go a long way.

The term hybrid is like longbow, it means different things to different people apparently. Mild deflex/reflex bows are not hybrids and are likeliest the easiest bows to quiet down. Looking how a bow operates, even the most radical hybrid (semi- recurve) should be easier to get quiet than a recurve bow. But again, it has zero to do with which brand you have..it has everything to do with tuning.

There's a lot of ways to quiet the bow with set up and strings and the best way I found is don't say anything and learn how to do it.
When you have a lot of bows and then have to get strings there's a lot you have to learn to get them to shoot right for you not the other guy.
Not all bows are as quiet as others might like.I found what one guy says is quiet another might not agree when they get it after its sold.
I would just pick a bow you like and then work it out from there because you will need to learn to shoot it and tune it for you. Plus bows have things about them that they like not all created equal as we would hope for.
Hope this helps a little. Variables I like to mention that because there are.

I shoot a Hummingbird 3pc longbow that I thought was pretty quiet until my cousin had Al Kimery build him a 3pc longbow. It is without a doubt the quietest bow I've seen, even without silencers of any kind it's quieter than my bow. My bow is 57# @28, his is 60# @28, both of us were shooting the same 2216 arrows.
