I came home with this rough 60" 1957 Kodiak to day. It's to bad some didn't get a hold of it before it started to get misstreated. It needs both tip overlays and a complete refinish and a new grip. Somebody spun the quiver around and freshly tore up the leather. Over all it's a survivor :-) JF

This will be a great before and after pictures project. A friend told me I stole it ;-) That the quiver alone, was worth what I paid for the complete rig :-) What colors were the overlays Brown and white or black and white? The glass color is brown. JF

The overlays were prone to that back on those models, so not necessarily abuse, as it were. I think they may have been using paper micarta for the overlays and they didn't always stick so well.

3 layers of 1/16" phenolic. Tan, Red and Tan. By the time I get string grooves filed in. It will have a little over 3/32" of Tip reinforcement. Then it'll get 20 Strand Bcyx string :-) JF

Yours doesn't appear to have as radical hooks as mine has. That one will clean up nicely. Are the tips pointing about 85 degrees away from the limb? Just curious.

It must have been the camera angle. I'll have to get mine down and shoot it. Mine was restored by Bowdoc and is a pretty nice bow. I call it my little hot rod.

Hot Rod should be a good nice name. Especially for a '1957' Kodiak. JF

Why not name that bow "Elvis", "Don't be Cruel", "Skinny Elvis", "Fat Elvis" or "Hound Dog". Take a look at the background in your photos above for the inspiration.
