Picked two bows up today. This Black Hawk and a York Long bow. Can anyone tell me how old this Black Hawk is? And if it is a good performer? This is the first Black Hawk bow to come my way. Anything you know would be much appreciated.

The riser is kind of on the slender side. But has a nice feel to it.

I believe they were made in the 50's, but other than that, I can't be of much help.

That particular bow was made in April of 1960. You can tell by the first serial number, which denotes the month and the date. Made in Pennsylvania by the Cravotta Bros. Can't speak for the Scorpion model, but the 66" Bee is one of my favorite recurves of all time.

Jon is correct on the date. I have two Scorpions but they are newer than this bow. This is definitely a very early model. The Scorpion is an entry level model but shoot very well. Fine little bows.

Black Hawk bows are great shooters and most of the time you can pick them up pretty cheap. There are a lot of them in Western Pa. They didn't make many of them in heavier draw weight.

That Scorpion may be called entry-level, but it's a damn fine shooter. I have a 45# model that will shoot with some of the so- called hybrid longbows today, all else being equal.

Thank you gentlemen for all the information.
