Have you used Sugru Self-Setting Rubber (from Lancaster) to reshape your longbow or recurve grip?

Does it adhere to wood or does it simply stick on somehow?

Do you want to torque your grip or not. A smooth grip is harder to torque.

jk, I've used plain old bicycle tube on grips with good effect, but don't know about the brand you mention. The tubes are smooth and won't 'catch' your hand, thereby allowing free movement with out the friction that can create torque. Many of us even used powder on the grips back in the field archery days to make the grip area even more free moving. I do know guys who sprayed undercoating on their bows grip and seem to like that. Different strokes.

Take a look at the two Sugru videos on Lancaster.

Has to do with re-shaping grips more than about no-slip.

I've used Sugru on a longbow. I used to build up very slightly and get a little texture. It isn't tacky like rubber, it's actually a little slick.

It adheres to wood just fine but it takes quite a while to start setting up. I wanted a rough checker on mine and I had to wait a couple hours before I could work on it without it wanting to move around.

Todd, We all torque our bows to a degree. A poorly shaped grip that is slick is worse than a correctly shaped grip that is covered. Did you build up the right edge of that Jaeger grip and see if it eliminated that flip? If not, Sugru would work great for that purpose. You can pick it up at Target where they sell home stuff.

Thanks...you've answered most of my question....

How long has it been attached and are you happy with it?

Did you roll something on it to get that "rough checker?" Lancaster video shows one way of doing that...

It's been on the bow for about two years. Hasn't shown any signs of peeling or tearing.

I used a pc of plastic material that has 1/4" square holes in a grid pattern and just pressed it into the surface. Picked it up at a hobby store. Used for needlepoint projects I think. Worked pretty good.

"Worked pretty good."...

Sure does. Looks like alligator :-) Sorta'.
