Who's here and what is your rig?
I'm a saddlehunter nerd. Modified SitDrag. Climbing methods are Climber Seat, treehopper bolts, sticks, Aiders (ultralight)

I got one of those to use a climbable tree. I had a bit of an issue with my legs getting numb, until I found the spot. I did shoot a deer using it, but I was on the ground at the time. i found it very convenient to use low over head branches that were away from the trunk, which allowed me to have a wider shooting radius. Not so sure about the drag part, as I ran out of gas trying to drag the buck up the hill and through the sticks. Cart with a safety harness to connect it to the shoulders works better for me, because it is so easy that I always get volunteers to haul out my deer. Of course, that is a two way deal, they get to use my rig to haul out their deer.

I have the original leather deluxe tree saddle and the ambush saddle. I use the lighter one the most. I carry the ambush saddle in a small backpack including the ratchet strap with four steps. I climb with the aid of a woodpecker drill and 3/8" bolts. I use a rope with the carabineer for attaching to the tree. I've found that I can climb much lower with the tree saddle as compared to a regular tree stand. Once you get used to it, it's the best climbing, hunting system out there.

I had one years ago. Never felt safer in a tree. If you used knee pads, you could get real comfortable. Shot a couple of deer out of it. Never really could get used to the strap right there in front of me. I never really hit it when drawing the bow, I guess it was more of a distraction, really. For someone that holds at full draw or a wheel bow shooter the strap wouldn't be a problem. Too bad they aren't being made anymore. They really were handy.

They've come a long way. Guidos Web is comfortable. NewTribe (an arborist company) makes a saddle specifically for hunters.
But with the right adjustments and the right platform to stand on it isn't bad

I have an Anderson treesling. Bought it probably 30 yrs ago. I too had the problem of either my legs, or my feet being uncomfortable. I always stood on treesteps. I also used a foam pad tied to the tree for my knees. They definitely let you blend in with the tree, and are easy to carry in a pack. I used to be able to endure a little discomfort while hunting, but not anymore. Haven't used that thing in years. MP

Only way I hunt is with this type of stand. The one I use the most is a piece of 1/2" plywood made similar to Onehair's thread back in '09 but without the tree stand off piece. I use a continuous loop of 1" climbing webbing tied with water knot for the bridge. Watching a deer sneak up while looking at you in a tree (on the other side of the tree) is priceless. Most dont get alarmed at all. I have made a bunch of saddle types over the years but I prefer a hard base to avoid pinching my hips. I also prefer to tie in (tether rope) fairly high, thus the hip squeeze problem. I am a 'sitter' not a 'leaner', It is a wee bit slower to set up, but I like safety and comfort over light weight and speed. YMMV

I started with a Onehair tree Seat. It was good. I just knew I wanted to be a little more 'nimble'

I have a Tree Suit that I hunt from occasionally, really light and easily set up and safe. They are not made any longer.

Well I have been using my on for more than 30 years. Easily more than a 100 kills from my seat. You only move when you need to just like any type of tree stand.
