Fletch and crest colors are pretty personal. I generally hunt deep woods, early and late in the day, so I prefer brighter, often fluorescent colors. For 3D and backyard shooting, dealer's choice. For hunting, I never fletch with white, as our bow season pretty much corresponds with gun season.

I think they look great Cameron, I would like to try the Hill French curve. Here's my first couple sets of woodies, maybe not so subtle. Btw,, I have a couple of your strings you've built, they are amazing. They came on a few bows I got from a mutual buddy of ours. DW

Like the green and the burnt orange colors. Are those leather dyes water base and what clear did you dip them in? Really like the green.

Bob in response to your negative comments. The fletch has been adjusted with the help of Jerry Hill. It is 5-3/4 long and just over 3/4 high. We would both like to see it at 3/4 however not at the expense of the rear radius curves. I prefer this to the 5" version I have and there is no feather noise. Contribution to those that are interested is the reason for the post. Rooty

Yes water based leather dye. Hand rubbed true oil then dipped in wipe on poly. I am still trying different stuff on that.Rooty

I like it. The 50's and 60's were eras of colorful arrows, including full color arrow shafts.

Does that Vario cutter have that shape or did you order it custom? I ask because I have seen a cutter with similar shape. I have the cutter as well but I got the banana shape. I can see a difference between that shape and the shield in how the arrow flys. Thinking your style might not have as much drag?

From: mgerard Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Rooty, I like the 3/4" height. Had a custom chopper similar but on back edge it was a 90 straight down. A little noisy but excellent flight. like the first green stain. Used leather dye on a hickory self bow years ago. Worked great.

Wow George!!! That was a blast from the past. I saw the pic of the catalog you posted and said. "They look like Browning arrows" Sure enuf that's what they are. We used to save up our $5.00 a week paper route money and when we had about $15 or $20 we could buy a dozen. Believe it or not I still have a few of those old beauts, and that's from 50 years ago.

Thanks for the memories.

Very very nice arrows Cameron, thanks for sharing.

I've become a fan of the French curve over the past few years ... I like the extra volume towards the rear of the feather ... I can't quantify it, but, I feel I get good stability without any noticeable increase in drag.

Date: 08-Aug-17

Nice arrows Cameron, thanks for the pictures.

From: nomo

I think they look great. I love big feathers too. I hunt with parabolic, but I love big feathers for looking at and shooting for fun. I don't care if my arrows make a little noise and are a little slower if I ain't trying to kill something with them. I get to watch them longer. I'm half deaf so I can't hear them much if at all.

From: Bob Rowlands
Date: 08-Aug-17

I've capped and crested with yellow, orange, and red. None of those are near as visible in flight in dim light as all white cap, fletch, and nock. If you want to see your arrow early and late in the day, against a dark background, white is the go to color choice. Also, all white tail end looks great against the natural light color of wood arrows. I don't even cap my arrows anymore. White fletch on doug fir and hickory is a clean spartan look.

Goose feathers work real well, they are naturally water resistant, but are a little softer than turkey primaries. DBar
