Howbetween can I visually tell the diffrence between FF and Dacron. I pulled an old BT Elit out of the closet that has two sets of limbs. I have a string for the 62 inch limbs but do not remember if its FF or dacron.

As a general rule, regular scissors will cut dacron but not FF.

BCY-X, for instance, is normally around 20-22 strands and B-50 is 14. The strands in BCY-X are much finer.

Hang it from a hook and put 50# on the other end and see how much it bounces. Dacron very bouncy, FF not. JF

Or, put it on the bow and see how much it sretches. 3/4 inch first 4 hours, I would say Dacron.

If the string is flemish twist and there are any tag ends showing in the fat part below the loop. Take a pair of nail clippers, if it will clip the tag off it is Dacron if it won't is will be some type of High Performance string material. DANNY

If you burn some fibers from Dacron it will burn like hair (fizzle up into the air). FF when burned seals like 550 cord. Don't burn from the middle. Burn around the end of the twist after the loop.

If you make your own strings, Id just make a new one and not worry about guessing.

Wont the fast flight look a little slick like shinny where the Dacron will look dull?

Honestly, it is what Sipsey River said and much more simple than most other options. Take a tag end and try to cut it with scissors. Dacron will cut clean, FF will be problematic.

FF is smaller in diameter and feels taught when you pluck the string. You get the idea if you ran your fingers over it fast it would cut you, where you don't with dacron. Dacron looks fat, and is nowhere near as taught when strung. FF doesn't stretch, and I can tell the power delivery potential just from plucking the string. The sound is sharper. Dacron is fat, flabby and dull in comparison.
