Just got a stick-on clicker. Where should it be attached? Top limb better than bottom? How far from nock point (or tip)? Is location important?

For hunting I placed mine as high up on the upper limbs as I could get without having the string strike it during the shot. For target I placed it in the fadeout of the lower limb.

I mount mine on the top limb just low enough that it is just a bit below the string loop when I unstring it. Replace the chain with some cord like they use for release loops on compounds. I think the location is important in so far as the closer you place it to the end of the limb the less string you have hanging down--that will hang up on everything as you move through the woods. Some guys think putting it out near the limb tip adds weight to the limb tip and affects performance. It may, but the weight is insignificant and I don't think the vast majority of guys can tell any difference at all in the location as it relates to performance. I would rather have that than 2-3 feet of cord hanging down. :o)

I mount mine on the bottom of the riser so that I can switch limbs and the clicker will still be there as opposed to buying multiple clickers for multiple limbs.

On hunting risers I mount mine on the upper limb, just below where the limb flexes. I also wrap the base with electrical tape. Oh.... and get rid of the chain.

If I were using one dedicated to 3D I'd consider mounting it to the bottom of the riser. I shot in TN today with a guy that had his there and it works great for him, I assume for the same reason as Legato.

I just bought a new one from black widow bows and the instructions state to put it on a non working part of the limb. For me that means on the riser before the fade outs. Haven't tried it yet I hope it helps me be a slower shooter. Gary

Yes non working part of the limb is best and replace the chain. If you are set on the upper limb make sure it is low enough to un string the bow without tearing it off. It takes a good bit of time and probably a helper to get it set just right for your expansion to trip it.Good Luck. >>>----. Ken

Bodark, you'll have a loooong string hanging down if you put it on the riser and then it will have to go on the bottom of the riser to be out of the way of your vision. Maybe just tape it in place at first to see if you can handle that. There is absolutely no downside to placing them out near the limb tip and so much nicer to have a very short string to deal with.
