Good looking bow. If I can give you some insight. The tip overlays on that bow are overbuilt and too thick. You need to make a longer taper from just under the string groove, You will decrease the weight in the limb tips making the bow slightly faster, and more pleasant to shoot. Also, how wider are those limb tips?

5/8" wide at tips. The first bow I built I made 3/4 in case I messed up I had room to work it down further. But even at 3/4" wide it was a little on the light side for poundage so I left it go. My buddy Jimmy of mahantango bows told me he does 3/8" from the string grove to the bottom edge of the belly glass which I never thought would vary in angle depending on thickness of limb. I guess I should go with a certain angle rather then a measurement. The thicker the limb the less step the angle. Thanks for the insight. The last guy who criticized was a little bit of a jerk. I appreciate insight from someone who will tell me understanding I'm just starting out building bows.

Looks nice especially for just your second bow! Fit and finish look real good. To me that can make or break a bow. i do agree the tip overlays look a little bulky but you cant please everyone! Iike the wood choices a lot. Great job!

Thank you all. I am limited on material so I'm glad the woods go well together. I just glued up my 3rd bow build this evening. Red elm limbs, walnut riser and fade out, I didn't know what to use for accent strips...Bingham used zebra wood packing strips so I used it for accent in riser and overlays and tips. I'll be sure to post pictures later this week when I finish it.
Also the finish is thunderbird, dull.

Sir: You are on your way! Great looking bows! Yeah, maybe the tips are a little thick, but maybe that will be your personal mark, your signature so to speak. Make the bows for yourself, please yourself first. We all hope to see more from you soon, keep up the good work!

Thank you casekiska that is about the nicest thing I've heard here yet. Its funny how if I went by every opinion I heard, well then I wouldn't be able to build a bow, cuz everyone tells me something different! haha I like you approach. build one to suit myself.
