Please, no debates on using trail cameras! Been there, done that.
With archery seasons only a few months away, I'm sure there are some others out there that are already jonesing to be back in the woods and wilds. I do the majority of my scouting during the winter months after last season while sign is still fresh, foliage is gone and bugs aint out. However, I really never stop scouting. I still scout plenty during summer, just pick and choose days to go, like when a cool front move through or late evenings with binos, etc. I also run trail cameras year-round and I'm sure a bunch of you guys are now putting out cameras to get a feel for whats in your areas. To fuel the fire, let's see those great trail camera pictures that you are currently getting on your cameras!

Nice photos!
I am interested in getting a couple new cameras. Last fall mine were stolen right here at home. What brands and models do you like? What do you dislike and why? What do you think of regular flash, infrared, and black flash?
I have had the best photos from old original large Cuddeback 3-4mp digital cameras with real flash. Not sure what they have been spooking. I have also used Moultrie M-80 infared which took good daytime pictures along with decent black and white nighttime pictures. In a pinch, I bought a couple Wild Game Innovations cameras at Walmart. They have slow trigger speed so animals are off to the side, daytime picture quality is fair, and the nighttime infared photos look like X-ray images. They were cheap, so great if they are stolen, but lousy picture quality.
Maybe new future cameras could include a password protection that prevents the camera from being used, or even a self-destruct feature!

Finally made the sweaty hike back in the wilderness area to pull a camera card this morning after a mid-morning shower cooled down the woods a little. This camera is w-a-y back in the wilds in a funnel area I located first by studying some topo maps then looking at the area on Google Earth last winter. Second, back in early February I put the boots on the ground and did ALOT of walking and scouting this vast area and found the funnel/saddle area I seen on maps. Sign was good, it was funneling game into the area as I expected. No surprise on my card today...Its a game-rich spot in a big-woods, wild area.

We have a few! The club this was taken at is just south of a huge reservoir (Quabbin) in central MA. Lots of open land and they have moved south from NH.
Not sure how fast moose antlers grow year-to-year but I think I got this youngster on camera last year.
The pileated woodpecker was the biggest surprise this year. Have seen them but not on camera.

Nice deer Mr. Keller. In Oklahoma we have some nice bucks too, but we don't see many until the bear leave us alone. The bear usually semi-hibernate in mid November and the deer hit us pretty hard then. Is it different up in Pennsylvania where you are?

Noticing that we're not seeing a lot of fawns this year. I've got multiple does on camera, no fawns with them.
Winter wasn't too bad, so I'm wondering if bear preying on fawns isn't to blame. Bear population rising here.
