So I wanted to try a r/d longbow. Thought about it for an year or so, finally decided on Maddog Prairie Predator.

Ordered it on-line. didn't speak to Mike, but communicated through email. asked him few questions, got some great recommendations, I ended up with 60inch PP.

Walnut core and black glass was my choice, but for a riser, I asked him for something dark, heavy, simple, subtle, and subdued.

I also asked for bow with weight of 35 to 40lb @28.

he told me it would be 6 weeks. I thought that was pretty quick, and was extremely happy, as my experiences with single bowyer production bow has always been at least 10 months wait.

that was MAY 31st.

and then....I got the bow TODAY!!! that's less then 4 weeks! Boy was I surprised.

Mike has chosen Cocobolo.

since I requested simple and subdued, he asked me if simple grained wood with no accent line would be ok, and I said yes.

but I didn't know what wood he used until I got the bow. I'm glad I did it this way, as mike got it JUST RIGHT!

the wood does not have intense figuring or eye catching grain, but it has nice warm amber glow that borders on purple in some spots.

very much the way I was hoping it would turn out to be.

the weight is 37lb@28". very easy weight for me to practice with. and if I ever decide to hunt with it, it is legal for deer here in NYS.

I've shot about 100 arrows this afternoon. Experienced no handshock, but there was slight buzzing that was ever present, I may have to play around a bit with BH. otherwise, it is very very comfortable bow to work/play with.

waller has been saying good things about Mike, and they were all correct in all counts. No wander he is highly regarded and recommended by many people.

I am glad to have gotten a bow from him.

What's the profile look unstrung? Appears to have some limb shape. Congrats on the bow?

Was not suppose to end that with a question mark. Hit the wrong key.

Thanks for the props. Some string scallops from Two Tracks will take care of any noise from that skinny string.
