How do you use your 3d target?

Many have talked about wearing out or buy new 3d targets. Most of mine are over 10 years old and all I do is give them an occasional painting.

I don't use them for daily practice. I hammer a bag target for that and follow up with a few shots at the foam.

Maybe some are just too hard on them?????

It took me a while to figure that out :) I now keep a compressed straw bale next to my 3d targets and Just shoot one arrow into the 3d. And also have bag targets for working on form/bulk shooting.

The other 3d lesson....I practiced quartering shots a lot. Combined with straight shooting, it slices out chunks from the target

I think what you are eluding to is cost effectiveness. That is going to be a personal choice with varying results. I have a target butt and a 3D trail I shoot almost everyday. I go through them all and the only thing that makes the larger ones last years is the fact they are farther away. In order to get down to the bottom of cost effectiveness (target or 3D) you would have to determine stopping power per money spent with the factor of how good of shot you are and what setup you are shooting it with.....pretty variable when it comes down to it. Just my .02 Regards

It's been my experience if you.can keep the arrow in the replacement core it will last MUCH longer...

Terry, I don't have a single 3d target that has a replacement core. Those are very brand specific.

I shoot the heck out of every target I have.
