Im an elk hunter, Ive been shooting a wes wallace recurve for a long time now and I've been liking the long bows more and more. I do a lot of spot and stalk hunting here in oregon. and Ive been trying to decide on a new big Jim long bow. the tc or buffalo , Ive never shot one but I like the looks of them and Ive heard good things about all his bows. just wondering what the opinions are out there.

I cannot tell you from experience since I've never owned either, but I really am intrigued by the Thunderchild with the forward riser and overall short length. Reports I have read from customers give it glowing reviews.

I know folks are going to come on and tell you to try both and decide for yourself, and you probably would like both. If I am buying w/o trying, the the TC for me.

thats the same way Im leaning . I have a deposit down on a TC but Im wondering how stable it is out past 30 yards. I shoot a 46 inch wes wallace stealth recurve very well out to 40. Im wondering how much I'll give up switching to a tc or buffalo for that matter

I have both. I like the TC better mainly because of the grip. I always have been partial to short bows. My tc 8c 54", my.buffalo is 60". I like the feel of the tc draw more also. Like stated above, There is nothing better than hands on. Big Jim is at a lot of the bigger shoots. It would be hard to go wrong with either one.

Thunderchild for sure. Buffalo in 64"+ is a sweetie, but TC is so pointable and forgiving for a short bow.

Jim is now using G10 in his risers if the customer wants to cut their bow past center, which is awesome for tuning. The mass is also great with this option. He is also doing flares and resin stabilized burl woods that are outta this world. Going to his shop will make your head spin.
