Well, this will be our second go at a Canadian moose hunt. A couple of years back my buddy and I booked a Newfoundland archery hunt which was a bust on so many levels. Determined to chase them once again, we booked a 1x1 6 day moose hunt through Bowhunting Safari Consultants. We feel confident this will be a much better experience! Hope to keep y'all updated on the hunt! Getting psyched!!!

The weather has been the story here lately in Alberta. October 2 should be perfect timing if weather cooperates. Nothing that an outfitter or guide can do to control weather. Be ready to adjust your expectations moment to moment. And make sure you can make any reasonable shot presented. Moose have a huge kill zone.

The rut has usually not kicked in during archery season in Alberta so I hope you catch it on a early rut. Good luck

Archery opens here Sept. 1st. Don't see how you can miss the Moose Rut. Last week of Sept thru 1st week of Oct. Primo hunting. Took my best Bull Oct 4th. Good luck and aim low to avoid the hump.

Have no idea who you are, but if you're lucky enough to be going after moose with trad gear I'm wishing you the best of luck. One of my dream hunts that will never come true.

Mike take lots of pictures and hope you get one and have a great experience. I'm sure you will, your not going rag tag. One of my dreams also that sure seem to have went off into the sunset as well.

Alberta+October+moose+bow & arrows=a great recipe for fun and adventure! I'll be back home dreaming about it with Jusspassun and Rymancat, so keep us posted with pictures and stories! Good luck and be safe. By the way, October will get here eventually.

Had one good grip and another not so good in Ontario. One was good weather and one was windy and I mean windy. One day was over 60 MPH. On that trip we had one morning of calm calling weather. Otherwise it was dangerous to get out in a boat.

I'm sure some of you saw this pic before. Too much blood for TBM.

I've booked several hunts with BSC and have always been satisfied with their recommendations.I hope you have a great hunt but please, good or bad , don't hold out on the details.I was looking to book the year after you went the first time and was waiting for your report and was a little disappointed with your reluctance to share the details.I'm still a little puzzled by your hunt results as I know several who hunt with that same outfitter you had and have had great results for years.I went with a different outfitter in NFL. and had a good trip.Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the well wishes guys! Glenn, hope you are doing well and pray an experience such as the one I'm about to take will be in your horizons. Swampbowman, As I mentioned in my follow-up post after the NF hunt, I wasn't interested in bashing the outfitter on this public forum. I did encourage anyone who wanted to hear about my experience to contact me personally and several did. I was happy to discuss why the trip was a disappointment and let that speak for itself. I understand that other hunters may have had a good experience with this outfitter but that was definitely NOT the case with our group of hunters. By the way, I never judge the quality of a hunt on whether or not an animal was taken but rather on the expertise of the guides and the opportunities they afford their clients. The Outfitter fell far short of that expectation the week we hunted.
