Im in the process of getting an ilf set up for HUNTING (19" satori sf carbon foam limbs in the #45 range) and was wondering who uses a plunger? I found a Shibuya DX Plunger in my box with all the accessories and was thinking of giving it a try. I was considering a nap flipper, pat norris springy or plunger and rest set up. Anyone have a suggestion? for those that use a plunger, what rest do you prefer?

I used a plunger and a flipper rest for years. These days I use one of Pat's springy rests.

Any of those will work for you. Back in the 70's I used a Flipper II and Berger Button (plunger). Never had an issue with them and had superb flight. Lots of choices.

I wouldn't bother. The Satori has that great adjustable strike plate doesn't it? The Plunger (I use them on my target and barebow risers) gives you good quick wide range of arrow choices and I tune mine out to 60 yards.....but inside of 30? I want less parts.
We'll see if I practice what I preach...I have a 19" Gillo Super Hunter coming in the mail. I plan to shoot it off the shelf.

Just a P.S.
I am saying this because right now I am getting GREAT flight from my Tradtech with a strip of velcro running across the shelf and up the strike plate. I can't see how a hunting shot could be improved on that bow with a plunger. But I can imagine a way that a hunting shot could be made worse with it.
I just had to take a "Blue Loctite Day" to batten down the hatches on my barebow rig. I was constantly having screws, weights, my plunger, set screws rattling loose.

I gave up on them for hunting. One less thing to go wrong.

DCH, Might want to go over to TT and look up Dan Deckers strike plates and rests. They're the way I'd go. I'd put up a picture, but I lent out the bow that I have it on.

Love them. Been using them since the 60's. Never had trouble with them as long as they were brass and stainless spring.

I tried them back in the 70's, and lost a beautiful buck because of it. Freezing rainy day. When I shot my arrow flew off to the left with a rattle. Deer was gone.
Why, moisture in the plunger froze up. Murphy's law prevails. I only use them for warm weather target shooting now.

When I was shooting ILF risers I always shot with a plunger and rest. Many good choices out there. I never had an issue when hunting with them either. Shawn

I use a shorty plunger from Trad Tech. Target plungers are too long for my tastes.
