I lost my dad today, so I am asking for prayers for my family.

He suddenly had trouble breathing last Thursday night and went into cardiac arrest. After 30 minutes or so of CPR they got him back. Well long story short all tests showed no real brain activity. Thus today he was taken off life support.

He was a great dad. He taught me to camp, fish, and shoot guns. He was not an archer, but when I was in high school he took me bow hunting a few times when his schedule allowed.

He was a good Christian man and went home to be with God today.

I know I don't post much, usually I don't have enough knowledge, so you may not be real familiar with me. But, I am on the wall several times a day and I would really appreciate your prayers.

Tom, about 11 years ago I posted the same. I went to a shoot the day after I buried him. Archery is good therapy and there are many good folks who you don't really know who will offer their sympathies which is comforting in times like these. I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. I'm so glad to see this post. We had to put our dog down 2 days ago and we're feeling really down about it. A dog is nothing like a father and it really brought into prospective what real loss is all about. I'm sorry for your loss and happy for your Dad's ascension. I lost my dad 2 months after he retired at age 62 in 1996. I matched his age last year. It was on my mind more than usual.

Dad is why I hunt and fish and why I had a career in Wildlife Management. Squirrel hunting with my rimfires and grandchildren takes me back to when I was 10 and he was 29.

His loss hurts so much, because you loved him so much. When you think about, it's a good thing.

When my dad passed, it took a chunk out of me. Time will heal the hurt.

I'M m guessing your dad got more enjoyment from sharing those events with you, than you did- being the recipient of his kindness.

It doesn't get any better than that.
