Welp was feeling top of my game 2 weeks ago from a while of recovering from health issues and they are back again. Last least I took 5 birds out of life this season so far.

Last week was watching birds which way we thought they were going to go next and made a move on them. Pulled truck over pumped out and off to get set and start calling to them. They were alone 2 monsters together. Just got inside woods no more than 25 yards and had to stop hold up I told my buddy. Come on Glenn don't stop here we need to be in more in the clearing. I can't as I leaned against a tree. Whats wrong? I need nitro and took it and it cleared me right out and could breath from the heavy panting and out of breath and pain in chest. No issues prior to this day. Ok sat down and tried to call from this spot but birds must have seen us we guessed so moved around in front of them to try to get to where they wanted to be. Got up and felt fine and started of again about 500 yards and by then they were with hens and other toms and would not respond. So walked out to road. Since this was a young guy I was with said you hurry up there and go get truck and pick me up I'll wait here.

Got the pick up and was feeling ok. I really thought I was going to have to get buddy to take me to hospital when I first had the episode it was real. I been there before but this was different than other times. Ok back on look out on road listing for birds. Went back to housing development where we herd birds first thing in morning. Got back there and saw big birds in behind this house. Ok Glenn you up to this its about 200 yards maybe more birds are marked on GPS so when we go through woods down the deer run we can get behind and call to them. Ok lets go and off we went but I would have to stop now and then to catch my breath but was feeling ok just a little winded. Ok shoot a bird and have to then walk out with bird on shoulder long walk down fire lane and didn't I miss turn buddy said at last house walk straight out so I end up walking out fire lane thats like 500 yards. Ok I hear buddy behind me Glenn, Glenn where to blinkidy blank are you? Now he's thinking I'm laying in a ditch and has to find me in the bush. Mean while I hear him bring truck down to end. Are you ok yes just a little winded. Ok he picks me up and I tell him go get bird its back along trail 50 yards just could carry it all any more. Ok and off he goes. Now the 12 noon whistle sounds in town so let go eat. I'm up in truck you drive us. Ok and we go to KFC and chicken up a mistake for me but if I was to die I had my chicken meal? Right? LOL Now I need a 2nd Nitro so I know something is working right but didn't I eat that fried chicken anyways.LOL

Ok no issues the rest of day or night. Next day get up at 2 am ok get down to buddys 2 hr drive high speed rocking and rolling and as I got out of truck a little sideways I pop another Nitro and good to go. I didn't tell him. Off to kill another bird that didn't happen that day. Couple days gone by ok but called Cardio Dr. he was away hunting also but his nurse said if your going through episodes like this come to hospital. No I can't and why not still hunting. Don't say another word go to hospital I have to tell you that but we know you.

Last time I wouldn't go they said they were sending police car to pick me up. I went in and they kept me and gave me 2 more stents.

Ok now this week had to take some more nitro and had an echo scheduled with follow up in 2 days which was today. Conformation the value is closed up a lot more and at this point you are going to need a value replacement. We have to cath you first so now getting everything in line to get it done. At that point they might let me go a week before doing valve will see just how bad it is or if I am blocked anywhere. If they let me out then I can hunt some more maybe. I asked Dr. what will you do tell the cath Dr. to hold me so I can't hunt anymore till I recover from the valve? He laughed so I knew then I am getting held against my hunting will!

I knew when this first happened it was different than the times I had been blocked and needed stents. My spirit told me the valve but then I denied what I had herd and was going to kill more birds and if it killed me I'd show up at the gates with a turkey over my shoulder in tears. LOL

Now this blows me out for going to Canada in June bear hunting also into a real wilderness. 2 years in a row have to cancel. At least I got birds in with 5 on the season so far.

Glutton for punishment self inflicted.

Next Wed 5-17-17 going into hospital to get kath and valve and repaired I hope I survive through it. They say I'm critical and I question it maybe too ornery to die?

Prayers or thoughts or bewilderment in order please.

I should of had another big bird yesterday but had I shot that bird as soon as I had the chance I would not have gotten to see that white bird Tom they had down in S NJ. tried to get close to other gobblers when the white bird was coming in silent as we meet each other and he saw us before we saw him and got set. Just wasn't meant to be.

Prayers please and thoughts for next Wed that all goes well and speedy recovery please and thank you all.

Allowed 2 in Pa. if you have the 2nd permit and as many birds as you have permits for in NJ. but 1 per week in each zone with the proper permit there's no limit other than only 1 per day on the 5 day permit. I was fortunate to shoot 1 in Pa. and 4 shot NJ. so far this season thats half over. I still have 7 permits left open that I can shoot birds on. The fees are $28.00 non resident per NJ. permit. Multiple zones that are next to each other what I have 16, 20,21,22. They are hard to get in these zones I had down south. Impossible for week A I wanted real bad but no go. I tried to get.

NJ goes by zones at 5 days for 4 weeks and then Saturdays are separate permits as well per zones. State says they buy lands with lic. and permit sales. Its weird just how many woodlots they buy up that hunters don't know about unless you have the hunting apps that show tax maps. This is a secret many don't know about yet. Then property owners post the state lands also that are next to them. We had one guy park his truck in the road where we had a bird coming to us last week and blew the deal on me. We were going to call warden and get him a ticket for disrupting the hunt but I told my buddy to leave it go we will find another bird. Guy sold his land to state and then posted it. Nice guy a real bugger and when he came up to truck and said this is my land what are you doing on it. We said no its not your land the state owns it. How do you know this then we showed him and he admitted it. Now should we call Warden for you screwing up hunt? No then take down those posted signs. He drove off then he knew he already prevented that bird from being shot.

I took a lot of chances yesterday walking as much as I did at one point I was glad to see 12 noon come. LOL

Was thinking I was behind the cops house so if they had to get me out they would know right where to find us. Buddys father could not help he was at home watching his property around corner for if birds showed up there could go back in the am and hunt there also. These birds walk around like they own the place and everyone feeds them buy having feeders out.LOL Have to make sure of the 450 rule though to be legal on this state land.

They aren't to stupid either and never seen so many big ones. Alot of Jakes also so theres hopefully a lot of birds to come if they don't die off somehow. The deer sign in these small patches was heavy also.

Glenn, you always respond to others with full blown sincere prayers to our Lord and Savior. Most of us say smaller prayers as we are not gifted with prayer prose such as yours, but our prayers are also sincere and we all want you to get well. The birds will still be there for you if you have so slow down and get your surgery- so quit taking chances and let the doc and God help you get well! Best of luck and God Speed.

You'll be judged by ALL of your words and actions! The good Lord knows every insult you've hurled at His mighty hunter! Seems Joey found the light somewhere along the line maybe and wants to try to be his brothers keeper.LOL

Last night was not good burning in chest like it was on fire and gasping for air a lot so at 2 am I'm up and took a nitro and it opened me up to go back to ZZZing.

I was thinking about going to hospital but then I toughed it out. I don't know if it was my clock going off internal to wake me up to get ready to leave to go turkey hunting or not.

A thought did come across was it Joe burning a Voodoo doll while over at Cat lady's house or not? LOL

I pray that I have enough sense to get to the hospital when I really need to get there in time too.

Mental is a part of this also I feel and don't want to over react. I have to get blood test today and chest xray and dental cert to get admitted but was thinking can't they do all that in hospital too. If I went in last night they would get all their Dr's to do all that. I worry about my dog also. She will be taken care of I have my neighbor to feed her and put her in and out. I had a talk with her this morning. She knows something is up. She's been staying close to me past 2 days so that tells me she senses somethings not right.

I can't seem to get them gobbles out of my head either.LOL

I don't know might have to go in sooner than Wed. and if tonight is anything like last night then I guess I'll go in while I still can.

Thanks you for prayer now I need some better wisdom.

Dr just called me to see if they can step it up 1 day to Tuesday to do the process 4-16-17. What I found out is they will see if I am a candidate to do the lip process rather than full valve if they don't have too? I guess that will be best but only God knows and I trust I'll be in Gods hands that will guide the hands of surgeons and op for the best way they think I can handle and survive this.

I knew this day was coming just didn't think this soon. Seems it closed up a lot faster than suspected. Dr. said when they discover it at first it u sally takes 10 years where mine did not its around 4 to 5 years. Whether the other health issues I have had there is no way of telling. The Lord expedited it for whatever reason is my ideas.

I don't have any fear more of an inconvenience I feel than anything other but be certain of this I will look and listen for ways to minister to others while I am in there and last time it was the Dr. He didn't forget what was said last time to him while he was in my artery's.

Funny just how the Lord works Tuesday was surgery day when I thought I was going to hunt that I had one more day in NJ. Wrong thinking I got blocked.LOL

Prayers lifted up from Mississippi. Prayers for the medical team and for recovery. Be nice to the nurses, they have your pain meds. As a retired critical care RN you are the type of patient that kept me very busy. Listen to your body and don't take risks. We had a patient that called an ambulance from his tree stand and told them to come to his house and that he would climb down after he shot a deer in front of him. No joke. Needless to say we fussed at him....he shot the deer and climbed in the ambulance and called his son to clean the deer before he came to the hospital. Y'all give me a headache. Hahaha. He told us, "well, I'm going to die sooner or later, might as well die doing something I love!" Take care of yourself. Marsha

It's a possibility you could be at your natural end and should, like the elderly Inuits, go off onto the ice, lie down in your igloo and await fate. Between heart attack symptoms and shooting tame birds right out of people's backyards, it just doesn't look too good. If you were actually hunting the birds, and using a bow, I'd have more hope.

My buddy has the blind all set up said just go there in am without him a set out decoys if you want to use the bow. I texted him at 2 am said forget it and took nitro and went back to bed. Got up this morning and went to get blood test and chest xray. Had I gone hunting Pa. this morning I could have made it to get tests today at mid day. I knew my energy was spent last night when needed nitro again.

Its time to go either go home or go get procedure borrowed time.LOL

Funny your saying that Marsha I can certainly identify with that guy. One day 20 years ago I had an eye stroke didn't know which I had at the time other than was sideways.

Got out of my truck and all of a sudden blurred vision in right eye, dizzy which could or couldn't be normal at the times? I say to myself ok what just happened to me. I felt all my hands, legs and head they are still attached. Now do I go to my stand and rest or sit back in truck and try to get home? Stand was only 90 yards from where I parked. Could only see out of one eye that wasn't blurred so I went to stand with one eye opened got there climbed up and pulled bow up and it wasn't more than 20 minutes an 7 point showed up and arrowed him. Now what to do. I get down find him not far in 75 yards and now have to decide whats next it's getting dark and can only see out of one eye the other is blurrd and when I tried to open head was spinning bad so I knew I was side ways. I gut out deer and leave him there and get to the house on property and ask the lady and her son to come help me.

She took one look at me and said I need to drive you to hospital now Glenn you don't look to good to me. No I'm good help me get this deer in back of my truck and that they did. I was thankful I was able to get home this day. I called in to wardy to let them know I had gotten a deer to get my deer registered. Now all that was some real stupidity but these animals can get you out of control. LOL

There were a lot of lessons the Lord gave me on many times I was sideways.LOL

I could always sit in my boat and let a hater shoot an arrow in it to be like a Viking?

When you go Joey what will Cat lady do burn you and then dust her nip patch with your ashes so hers or your Cats can go there to vist yu.LOL

Not! Thinking of juicing greens and expected to lose more weight while this goes down on me.

You know I wonder about getting mad cow diseases from the animals we eat and it looks like a cow is going to get put in me now I think that's what they use.LOL

All I am thinking about is Elsie the cow past couple days getting her valve. Lord help us all. LOL

Feel pretty good today no nitro yet and laying very low. Trying to get some things in order. Did want to try to shoot bow see how it felt? LOL

Tuesday they stepped up the procedural to get done 5-16-17.

Thanks Todd everyone is afraid to take me past couple years to not worry if something happened and had to med-vac me off boat. I either run the boat or I'm a wireman and do the riggins. I think my days at sea and wiring fish are over. A several years back before I got my first stent. I wrapped up on a good mako and needed help boat side they asked me whats wrong on the boat and I said I have an issue. They said I'd say it's not like you to let a fish go and we just watched you do it. That's when I first knew there was a issue that I needed a stent on was 70 % blocked in main artery. Could have went then but wasn't in the cards God kept me around. That week I was out on assignment and called my buddy said come get me and take me to hospital and if I am passed out when you get here then just call ambulance. When he got there I was nearly passed out and to stupid when to take the nitro. I learned after that and when to take it and always have in my pocket now no matter where I go.

Thanks Todd for the invite. Dr. said no heart damages which are amazing to me but artery's are weak. At least legs are not swelled up if they need to by pass and get the vessels.

Tuesday they stepped it up to now in the am. I been praying just another stent maybe but Gods grace is needed its putting a hold on things.I can't freak out about it just get it fixed.

Thanks everyone for all the prayers and thoughts. From the bottom of my last clear artery if I have one. LOL

Heck of a way to lose more weight I tell ya too.LOL

Well now not sure which part to tell first? LOL

Ok start with Danny boys interest first and nice nurses. I fell in love 2 times still thinking about the 2 that took care of me and they put me under their wings and spells. I knew when I first meet Becky she was super special first words out of her mouth she had a hook in me. I was on my best behavior too, I really was. I asked Dr. can you go into my neck or wrist. Nope that is the Dr. who him and I have history with together. No! Your groin only! Ok they prep me take me in look in artery's and found clear. Looked at heart and said you need a valve for sure. Normal people have 3 flaps they call it I was only given 2 flaps it appears. Ok now they are doing it Monday said no driving, no lifting no anything. Lay low and rest its going to be a big deal for you. 2 weeks down and rehab then 4 weeks recovery and then 3 months expected total recovery. When they brought me back to my room then Kim took care of me and she was something else. She lives down street from me and she's not against hunting either. Little thing 2 wonderful young nurses stole my heart. LOL

Monday early I'm supposed to be the first for that day so now I wait. No hunting the Dr. said that checked my artery's wanted to keep me until Monday but they decided to let me come home. I have that plug in my groin so have to guard it and take her easy. Now my buddy s are shooting their birds with their bows they been texing me pictures. Don't worry I'm not taking any chances though going to behave for a change. LOL

I am really tired though big time. I said ok now I can go to Baltimore and buddy says your not going down there with us. Your staying home all I need is to have to go to hospital down there with you won't get you home in time.

Next Monday morning going in to get valve done now they changed it. Had hoped to have gotten it done today but Dr. was going away so they decided to do Monday on 5-22-17. Just laying real low and sleeping a lot. Thinking to much and praying and sure wondering and trying to think about what its going to be like with chest cracked? Not looking forward to this at all not one bit.

Going to be separated from my dog for a couple weeks also. That's going to suck.Wont be able to garden much either.

From: Frisky
Date: 18-May-17

I thought the valve was done? I still have a chance for the bow, so put me back in your will. I guess I have it pretty good. Training daily on my bike, no heart trouble at all, the world's best bows and a nice garden going strong!

Joe, careful my friend, what you say. Everytime I say, 'hey I am healthy as a horse' I get sick. Stopped doing that a long time ago. Cat, Praying to our Lord Jesus that you will be fine and have a full recovery. I'd be not looking forward to that either, but we got your back in Prayer. :)

Yeah isn't that the truth to about boosting about how well we feel. Seems every time I say it also I seem to get my hat handed to me. I was amassed how well I felt back at the last shoot I went to in NJ. last month and then hunting until the episode's started on me. I guess I needed to go flat out to find out and Turkey hunting does that to you.

I keep thinking is this really happening to me or what? Other than really feeling tired past couple days is this truly going down. I guess it is its all scheduled. Sometimes I think the Dr.s are all against me and I'm there cash cow at least they should do is let me hunt their property's don't ya think? LOL

Well I guess I'll be part cow now with a cows valve. LOL

Hey maybe I'll get like you Joe and start eating grass like you do and try to stay away from nip.LOL

Going to try to get a few things in garden next couple days. Have couple beds turned over so ready.

What would you do with any of my Drakes though Joey? They are tricked out can you handle a bow that is and a looker. I have reservations thinking they would be well off at your crib. Especially around them Cats?LOL

From: Frisky

Just put me in the will and I'll worry about the Drakes when they show up, lol!

Glenn, my aunt got a new valve last fall. She's doing great. The only thing, she keeps looking at the green grass on the other side of the fence and making a strange sound. Seriously she's doing great, she gonna turn 80 this year. JF

From: RymanCat
Date: 18-May-17

That's great news been hearing this a lot. Some how I must have missed the 3 flap in my heart when I got made only have 2 one of those ones that got shorted. Surprising no trouble until now Dr. said? No worried about the valve just concerned about the cracked open chest thing.

Plus going to have to be on the pain pill business again too. It was rough getting off them last time cold turkey.

From: Bob Rowlands
Date: 18-May-17

I've also had bad reaction with certain post surgical pain meds. I get real nasty and aggressive with the staff. If this is happening to you, ask your doc to change your meds. If you want to come back and kick your therapists @$$ you'll know you are on the wrong medication. Be frank with your physician about you pain med. It's your body.

From: Frisky
Date: 18-May-17

Don't worry about being field-dressed. From what I've heard, they rarely leave a gut pile on the table. A year ago, I took an old woman grocery shopping. She told me her pig valve was 15 years old and was supposed to last for 10. A couple months later, her valve took a turn for the worst and she died. So, it's best to get in there and get a new one and march on.

Joe any chance you work for NBC? Your the Legend of Propaganda maybe. LOL

Think positive! Now I need to get patched up to fish then I get out and heal up.LOL

Then before you know it be time to hunt in fall. LOL

Just came in from some gardening and is it hot outside. Nice an cool inside. Works all cleaned up can go and get patched up and not have unfinished work over my head. That's a first it sure seems.

That's what they say 10 years they get out of a replacement give or take.

Gong in 9 am Monday 5-22-17 to get new replacement heart valve. The Dr. called today said will be a 3 hr. wait so guessing around 2 pm the process begins. Won't be able to let ya know for about 2 weeks I think will be in hospital 5 days then supposed to go to rehab for another 5 days it looks like so far.

Thank you for all the prayers and thoughts. Its already been decided by God what the out come is to be anyways.LOL
