Who's used these cutthroat broadheads? I hunt deer, bear, elk, pretty much anything I can get a tag for here in WA and I like what I'm reading about them. Killed a big hog in Texas with a grizzly but the broadheads didn't survive the bones it hit. So the one solid piece sounds great, price seems a bit spendy for 3

I killed a bull moose last fall with a 200 grainer. Nice head. I don't count on any broadhead to survive a kill. My cutthroat is still issuable though. All that being said, I'm going to be going back to my stinger buzzcuts. More than enough broadhead.

Have only hunted/killed whitetail with them but I am very pleased with the quality and performance. Very easy to get them razor sharp. They have a lifetime warranty as far as damage and workmanship, so as long as you don't lose one your golden! Plan to hunt black bear and maybe hogs with them later this year.

Great heads. Easy to sharpen. I shot thru a buck and into a tree. When the buck took off, it snapped the head where it screwed into the insert. Tommy replaced it free. Head was in perfect shape except for that.

It's funny I just ran off about how cheap the latches on the Bear takedowns looks, criticizing stamped and formed parts. But in the case of broadheads, it isn't clear that CNC heads are an improvement over stamped, formed, brazed, and welded ones. And as far as I am concerned if you have to sell them in a 3 pack, people aren't willing to buy enough of them to shoot them enough to get used to them.

Everyone tries to invent a new mouse trap. There are too many well proven heads that have been around for 70+ years and are still reasonably priced to fool around with those. Broadhead inventers think they are going to make money with there "NEW" invention. I can remember when Gene & Barry came out with the "Woodsman". Gene told me he made ONE DOLLAR a pack and had to purchase all the seconds from the manufacture, not much profit there.

Well that's what I was kinda liking about cutthroats. They come right out and say they aren't a new design, they're just a simplified 1 piece head built so there's less possibility of failure. My grizzly that hit that hog didn't chip, it broke apart. I know this design will penetrate, Grizzly proved that, was wondering more about edge retention, sharpenabilty, and quality. I quit with grizzly after the last pack I bought had warped heads and the one broke apart.

I don't think I can justify the cost of 'em.

Dylan, that was a freak accident. My broadhead test for years was shooting them through the door of an old Dodge Duster that sat down in dads pasture. The Grizzly would penetrate the door as long as you hit it square.

Any head CAN fail.

Seemed to me out of 6 heads 2 warped and one busting like it did was a sign the process changed. Heard they had some issues after switching owners, maybe I got a bad batch from that time period

Im gonna try the 160's with steel inserts. Roughly 200gr. Iv been using 130 zwickey no mercy in rocky country and abowyer boneheads everywhere else for years. Just want to try something different. Pricey yes but UNCONDITIONALLY GUARANTEED

The Cutthroat heads are fantastic as the family who makes them. You will not be disappointed!

I'm up in Ferry county Gary, middle of no where and hang a left into the forgotten land.

I love the warranty!

Love them! Best broad head on the market.

Same price as the other vpa heads... to me that means they are not making much of a cut on their own exclusive head. 1 piece machined steel along with the life time no questions asked warranty seems like a fair deal to me, as long as you don't lose them they will last you a life time.

I have been seriously considering them, the most appealing part to me is the one piece machined design. The only hang-up I have is the overall length of the 150’s (which is what I would get) they seem short… I shoot a 100gr steel outsert so I don’t what to bump up to a 200gr or 250gr. I’ll probably just go with 150gr Grizzly for the overall length. If I was in the market for a 250gr head I would have already bought them.

I've been shooting cutthroats for 2yrs now, great head, easy to sharpen, really liking the effects of the bevel on animals, and you just can't beat a life time warranty! and for me there local and the Clum's are a great family to deal with. Currently using the 150gr, may try the 200gr this year.

I lost a big bull elk when I shot it broadside in his scapula and my name-brand brazed broadhead curled so badly that it wouldn't penetrate.

I have since gone with 1 piece CNC'd Cutthroats with no problems with durability, etc.

Photos shows a Cutthroat penetrating steel whereas my name-brand brazed broadhead disintegrated when it hit steel.

I used the 190 gr glue last month on this 400lb bear. Double lung shot from a 50lb longbow and he only made it about 60 yards. They are really easy to get razor sharp and the one piece design seems indestructible. And a lifetime warranty-I'm sold!

Mgmicky, that's a heck of a bear! I shot a big (not as big as yours!)bear a month ago with an Abowyer single bevel. 45# bow, arrow stuck in the ground on the other side. 50 yards or so, and dead. If I didn't already have a lot of these, I'd be trying the Cutthroats...just because I like Tom Clum and the way he does business. If he's selling it, it's likely pretty darned good.

Now, as to the Grizzlies, I know I'm going to get flamed here, but since they left Elburg they just don't seem as good. I will admit that a big part of that is the rest of the single bevel competitors have gotten much, much better. But, we should all credit Harry for bringing it to the forefront.

I don't like two blades because they have never left enough decent blood trails. I try them every now and then. I liked the design of the Cutthroats so got a couple. They sharpen very easy. Shot my best Moose with one two years ago-46" spread. Double lung, clipped one rib. 54# Bear TD. Complete pass thru. He went about 120 yds. Best blood trail I ever had with a two blade.

Last year, Mulie doe sharp quartering away. Hit high but below spine. Took out a couple ribs and lodged in opposite shoulder. No damage and still sharp.

Maybe I should sell some zwickey deltas and buy some cutthroats!

I'm giving them a go on my first elk hunt this fall. Put two right next to each other at 27 yards last night while grilling. Hoping I can repeat that a few more times and under a little more pressure. Cheers!

FDP: That poor Duster! And by the way, The Duster was Plymouth. Dodge version was called the Demon. (Yes I had one and I wish I still owned it...)

I have both 250 Cutthroats and 250 Abowyer Brown Bears - still a toss-up as to what one goes to Colorado this year.
