Prayers for you. I had surgery in Feb. for a ruptured disc. I know how debilitating back pain can be. My best advice is get an MRI and have a good back specialist read it.

Praying for you falcon. I bad back is NO fun. I had a neurosurgeon tell me: "be kind to the old man you will someday be". It's hard to limit yourself so you don't pay the price. Do you have a low poundage bow you can shoot?

I agree with limbwalker in getting an MRI and seeing a back specialist. I also agree with BlacktailBowhunter on walking.
Many years ago I was diagnosed with a large herniated disk in my lower back. Back pain also came with sciatic nerve pain down one of my legs. Doc. suggested surgery or Physical therapy. Long story short, Physical therapy, stretching exercises, proper body mechanics, bicycling, and walking, got me back to work in few months, pain free!

Hate to hear of anyone suffering from back pain. I've been through two surgeries and four disc ruptures. Go for the steroid shots first. I've had great success with them. Don't expect a miracle, it can take a while for the medicine to take effect. Good luck, hope you can get some relief soon.

Prayers from In. I had bad lower back pains a year ago and they lasted a few months. I almost could not walk.I had a shot close to my spine. Helped some. I believe the main thing that helped was rest and no heavy lifting. Wish you the best brother.

I know your pain... or at least similar... I'm recovering from my back surgery from last Tuesday right now.
A MRI will tell the complete story. Then you can decide what to do. I'll be praying for you.

Get the shots, they are epidural blocks I presume. Quicker than waiting around and suffering with the pain. I don't know if God cares whether you can shoot a bow or not frankly. Just my opinion though.

Done! I cured my lower back pain by drinking lots and lots and lots of water. 1.5 - 2 gal. a day for 6 weeks. Went away and never came back. Read it in a book called "Your Body's Many Cries for Water" Barring a known injury, of course.

Help him overcome this with the minimal of efforts and give him a blessing because your the great healer we all come to when we need fixing. Thank you Lord for hearing our prayers and putting up with us day in and day out when we are not as you would like us to be. We ask all things and pray all things in the name of Jesus.

Same here. Shots did no good. I'm going to try basic stretching and 5 yoga positions to increase core strength and relieve lower back pain. My spine specialists is very conservative when it comes to surgery. I just recently had an EMG were they check to see if there is any nerve damage. Thank God There is not. She said if i only had pain in my legs she would consider surgery but it is equally affecting my lower spine and legs. I'm only 52 but serving in two branches of the military as a grunt will add years on to your body. Prayers from Western NY

Go to a back surgery center. They now do a surgery that the incision is less then an inch and they work wonders. Most people are back to work in a couple days and back to doing everything they always did within two weeks. Look into Laser Spine Institute and others. Shawn

Relieve actions are obviously related to what the causation.
I'm a dental hygienist now (second career after 23 years as a chem sales engineer). Hygiene work demands good ergonomics, or your back WILL hurt.
Some things that work for me for back health:
1). Gentle decompression/ elongation:. Get an inflatable excercise ball, and or inversion table. 2-5 minutes on the ball(belly up) is great therapy. I found a used inversion table on craigslist for $75. I set the angle at about 45 degrees ,(head below feet). I listen to the radio for & minutes daily while partially inverted. Feels great.
These excercise decompress the spine, stretch out muscles, ligaments, tendons on both sides of the spine ( bilateral elongation). Gentle, partial inversion is an incredibly effective excercise.
I remember reading someplace that the US Army is having great success using inversion tables for treating acute/chronic back pain, reducing the need for back surgery by something like 40+%.
2) " barrel back cracker": I found a 40 gallon plastic barrel. I put it on its side and drape over it ( belly up) with the barrel in my lower back area. I can often hear "snap, crackle, pop" in my spine as I drape over the barrel and stretch for 30-60 seconds. Helps with vertebrae alignment. Feels great. You can do the same by draping over the arm of a couch. You could use a rolled up towel under your lower back, lying on the floor ,( belly up).
Key is to go gentle, came take more time. Don't push hard to hurt yourself.
3,). Yoga / planking, core strengthening, walking with 3-4# dumbbell in each hand (core ab back strength)
4) weight loss
Remember, if you have structural issues (ruptured disc, cracked vertebrae), this path of treatment is not a cure.
Good luck. These treatments have really helped me- for MY cause of occasional discomfort.
