I've straightened these cedars for a few days now. Now I'm sealing them with zinsser water base sealer and sanding between coats. I've done one already to see how it worked out. JF

On the first one. I sprayed white water base Craft paint, white and turquoise, then I added some cresting. Then I sealed and coated it in Big Jim's Buffalo gloss epoxy sealer, about six thin coats. JF

looking good! that turquoise and orange makes for a sharp looking fletch.

I tried painting the carbons i use for targets/stumping/small game white this year and I really like it. Much easier for me to find than a black or wood grain shaft.

That's how I'm feeling too, longtrad. I used one two years ago and took a deer with it. No problems, me seeing it or the deer :-) JF

Those are sharp, man! Maybe not so practical mid-winter, but the rest of the year…

From: bodymanbowyer

Winter, they'd be pretty tuff to spot :-\ JF

Should be easy finds. No color like turquoise in nature that I'm aware of.

Jeff, those look great and almost match my car! Lance.

Paul, turquoise looks a lot like turquoise...or copper oxide for that matter :-)

From: bodymanbowyer

LOL, I'm not a fan of anyone, ;-) except maybe Fred and Howard. JF

I always liked the looks of wood grain but those are sharp. I see some white arrows in my future. >>>-------> Ken

Nice job there Jeff. Other than winter, I like white in the woods.

Sanded the sealer, Zinsser fast prime. I air brushed Whit Craft paint white. Then I used a little Frisky color for the caps. JF

A lot of you guys sure make some nice looking arrows. All I do is stain, seal, and fletch. Guess I don't have much artistic ability.

After a brushed on coat of Big Jim's Buffalo gloss epoxy dried overnight. Now I'll do some cresting with water base craft paint. Finding the right brush for the line you want, may take some trial and error. I got my brushes from 3Rivers. JF

Next to my experimental and some original arrows. Im thinking YEAH. I'll let the cresting paint dry for an hour, then I'll start clearing them, by using a gray foam brush. With Big Jim's Buffalo gloss epoxy 3-4 coats, let dry then sand lighty with 400grt and then apply 2 more coats. JF

From: bigdaddy

I like them Jeff!!!

From: bodymanbowyer

It took almost the whole afternoon, but I've put on four thin coats of gloss epoxy clear coat on these. Tomorrow I will maybe sand with 400grt and give two more coats or glue nocks on and fletch. I'll just have to see if I want them even smoother :-) Thanks to Recycled Recurves,'Lonnie' I now have a bunch of turquoise feathers :-) Thank you Lonnie, I'm glad you had them :-) JF

Dang Chas, that didn't take long. Jeff, I don't know how I missed this from the start but MAN those are nice. i really like the Turquoise offset as well. Here in Texas shooting them in winter would be no problem either. Only thing white are the rocks. LOL

Our great and talented bodyman also sent this one to me for a "trial" arrow. It is smoking good out of the Polar that he also re-finished. If this pic isn't good, I'll have to take two. One to show the detailed cresting and another to show off the fade at the tip.

Since these arrows have a old look, I'll use this old fletching jig. Anybody know what kind it is? I do, cuz it still has the label on it. JF

I'm gonna hold back on the answer till a few more guess. JF

From: mgerard Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Jeff, before you got the feathers from Lonnie you were trying some dyes. Have you ever used Easter egg dye on feathers?

From: bodymanbowyer
Date: 28-Apr-17

No I haven't tried Easter egg die. That would be a perfect match lol. JF

From: Nalajr
Date: 28-Apr-17

Those are awesome!

Is there a way to get aluminum arrows white like that? I've never fooled with woodies and don't know the first thing about them.

I'll take any and all suggestions too!!

Thanks for posting OP.

Is the fletcher an ancient Bitzenburger? Obviously I have no idea, just thought I would throw a dart in the dark.

I think it's a Wiffen jig. If I remember correctly it was disigned by Mac of Mac's archery in Milwaukee. Larry Wiffen Sr. ended up making it because where Mac's shop was he couldn't do any manufacturing.

A couple of you guys guessed correctly,it is a Wiffen Archery fletching jig. From Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Don't see many of these around. One more question. How old, what year did they make them. Not very user friendly, because nock indicator, no room for it in the jig hole,or it needs a little padding on the arrow blocks. JF

Really nice arrows Jeff, I like 'em! Wyatt
