Hi I just picked up a Fleetwood Timber Ridge recurve marked 40#@28 threw it on the bow scale and it comes out at 44#@28. Measured it 3 times with different people doing the reading and the pulling. I am happy it is rated a little heavier than marked.
I am now in the process of choosing arrows for it, 41#@26" with this bow using a arrow marked before shooting. I have 1816, 1916, 2016 and just won a 6 pack of gold tip hunters in 500. I also can get predator 2 700,800 and 600 spined arrows.
I just need a starting place. Thank you for you advise on this.

You have 1816's and 1916's. They spine at .756 and .623. Try them and see what shoots. Then you should be able to see if you can use .600 or .700. I'm making a guess, but I think you'll lean towards the .700.

String type will make a difference. 1816 with Dacron and a 28" arrow. 1916 with FF and a 28" arrow. That's talking 125 to 145 grain tips. A 600 carbon will need to be extra long and likely have more weight up front. They don't act like aluminum. Again, what string material are you using?

Although it isn't important in the grand scheme of things, pay no attention at all to what you learned measuring the draw weight. UNLESS you measure the weight exactly like it was measure in the factory, it is absolutely worthless information.
Take the arrows and go to your target. Put a 1" piece of masking tape vertically down the center of your target. Shoot them all from 15 yards pointing/aiming the arrow at the tape. Whatever spine hits the tape, is the proper spine. There is no doubt, no debate, now exception.

Im shooting low 40's @ 26 and what's working for me is Full length gt trads .600 with 125gr points. Or the same cut to 27" with 160 gr points. Everyone's different form release etc but this works for me

Bannerstone, I have a 40# at my draw of 27". I shoot 28" arrows and the difference is: Dacron string 12 strand flemish twist I need 1816 arrows with 125 tips. Ultracam 10 strand string, flemish twist, 1916 arrows with 125 grain tips. The string makes a difference. I don't like, nor do I want arrows sticking three or four inches past the bow.

Yep I will do that for you Guys. I'll start playing with 1916 shafts first.
The string is B50 but I can pick up a 1/4 lb of ultra cam cheap and twist up a new string.

My 600's (Axis Traditionals) shoot real good out of several of my old 43 to 45 lb recurve bows. I too have a 26-inch draw, so my 43 to 45 lb bows are shooting close to the 41 lb you mentioned. Have slightly lighter draw weight bows and use heavier point weights for them with the same 600 Axis Trads.
