How many strands of 452x area needed for a 40 # recurve? And how many strands of Dynaflite 97 are needed for the same poundage bow?

I can't answer for 452X, but on my 42# recurve it uses a standard 16- strand d97 string that you can buy from 3rivers or any archery pro shop. Tammy Palmer of flemishbowstrings.com builds a 12 strand string for bows between 35-45 lbs.

12 of d97 with .024 or .025 serving will work great for goldtip size nocks.

With 12 strands of DF-97, I serve with .019" Halo, with one spiral wrap of plumber's teflon tape under the string nocking/finger placement area. Works well for me with GT sized nocks. I find .021" a bit too tight, and .024-.025" extremely tight.
