Can anyone tell me what thickness of leather the commercially made leather bow saddles are. Thinking of using one on a bow that has a little smaller grip than I like to increase the size of it.

I once got some deerskin elbow patches off of eBay and used them on a grip with a skinny throat that was irritating the web of my hand. Worked and looked great.

My guess is they use what ever they can get in useable size remnants.

ben, if you referring to the self adhesive bow saddle sold by 3R, I have them on two recurves. they're not very thick, maybe 3/16" or so.

What Elkhuntr said. I used them on my bows back in the 70's so they have been around awhile.

Neet makes them, and F.S. Discount Archery, and The Footed Shaft sells them.

I use them on my bows and if the smooth leather saddle isn't thick enough, there is a suede saddle that is considerably thicker.

Bow saddles were around in the 1960s. I used one on a Hoyt Pro-Medalist in '64.
