I am the caretaker of 3 bows made by Glenn. His stories and adventures inspired me to move to Alaska and create adventures of my own. Here is a 1943 Baleen long bow signed and dated by Mr St Charles, a 1949 Bamboo/Baleen long bow, and an original 1953 Thunderbird recurve, #205. These bows are beyond "rare". The 2 older bows I acquired directly from the St Charles family. The Thunderbird came out of a pawn shop in the Seattle area. The bamboo backed bow is one of only 2 he ever built with bamboo backing. His son Joe has the other. I apologize in advance for my poor photography skills, my pics don't do these bows justice, however it is still my pleasure and honor to present these fine examples of his work. enjoy

Nice bows and great archery history for sure. I also have an original Thunderbird, also signed, and a bunch of other "junk" as Glenn called it, given to me over the years. Treasures that I will pass on to my Grandson. Lance.

When I was in Alaska once or twice a year when we visited the " lower 48" Northwest Archery was always a stop. I was lucky enough to spend a good amount of time visiting with glen and getting first hand accounts of some of his AK trips. He was a true gentleman and I feel very fortunate to have been able to spend a bit of time with him.

Impressive collection there AK. The book is a treasure for sure. I was only in Alaska for one year but managed to have many unforgettable adventures. Went back up a few times. I'm hopin' for a return trip soon. Glen is by far my favorite.

Thanks for sharing. I have a couple bows that Jay made for me signed by Mr Glenn along with his book "Bows on the Little Delta". I used to call Mr Glenn on the phone periodically before he passed; he loved to talk and share his hunting stories. Wish I could have spent some time with him at the cabin in Alaska or the "Chalet"!

Chuck it was a comment Joe made to me that got me into collecting Bears from the 60's. Cost me quite a bit of money. Made me a lot of friends. Taught me a whole lot about what is really important in life. When people ask about switching from shooting right handed to left handed I always mention Papa Bear and his hunting partner, Glenn.

Very nice! All I have is a signed Northwest Archery catalog and the only copy of a photo of Glenn and Margaret holding two chocolate cakes with "Bows on the Little Delta" written in cake frosting on top of the cakes. This was to commemorate the publishing of the book.

Awesome article! Really miss the Shop/Museum! Used to go there regularly and get the tips from them all, especially Suzanne. One time Glenn and another 'ol Timer were in the Museum chatting and I had my youngest son, 10 at the time, with me. Glenn and the other gentleman started chatting with my son about Traditional Archer and gave him the OLD magazines they were talking about! My son brings this up often. What a personable family!

As a bow growing up in Spokane, I read everything Glenn ever wrote on archery and bow hunting. When I moved to Olympia, I found his shop and spent countless hours there, especially in the museum, looking at Pope &Youngs' equipment, Howards' bows and arrows, and hundreds of bows and arrows from folks you only read about. The whole family was always so kind and gracious to me. Suzanne helped me with my arrow making, Joe with my shooting, and Glenn with hunting in general. After reading about their Chalet at Nason Creek, I made several hunting trips into the area, immersing myself in the joy of archery. Their shop in Normandy Park is now gone, replaced by apartments and other buildings, but the memories linger on. Richard

I first met Glen in I think 1999 or 2000 when he was at the first Compton. I remember chatting with him and then a few times as the years went by again at Compton. In 2006 just before I went on my Alaska Caribou hunt I told him about my upcoming trip and he said "You will do fine". I will always recall that and I did in fact score on my last day to hunt. I don't think I ever got to tell him about it.
He was a true gentleman. I am grateful I got to meet him.
