The platform offers me a much larger, more stable platform for long shooting sessions. It also allows more than one person to shoot at a time as well as giving me the height I need that I was not getting from the ladder stand I was practicing from. I typically hunt 18-20' from loc on stands. The platform is just a tad under 18'.

Doesn't your house/garage/shed have a roof? You just like building stuff, right?
I can see that you're like me, when you build something you BUILD it!! I'll bet you set those posts in concrete too...didn't ya?? ;-)

Well Lou.....your right they are in concrete..lol. Wife didnt like the roof idea so I was able to get some utility poles and it just sorta went from there. Bearing a Tornado, dont think I will have to work on it anytime soon, though I am considering a stair system in the future to replace my stick ladder.

For safety and strength, consider adding cross braces and knee braces / gussets.
How about stairs and hand railings? How about safety harnesses?
For mine, I used 4" PVC pipe to make an arrow lift. Cut it short enough that it is below the fletching, glue a cap on the end, drill 2 holes near the top 180 degrees apart, add parachute cord so it hangs off the ground. Whoever is on the ground can gather arrows and put them in the tube. Then, you pull them up.
I build things too and want them to be safe and last.

Should install a safety line to attach your harness tether to with a prussic knot. Stay attached on the way up and down for safety sake. You do use one when hunting, right?

The safety police will be there shortly. Prepare you responses accordingly. 8^). You could have a barbeque up there...very nice. Don't know how we survived the 60's and 70's without harnesses and hand holds. I guess we knew something could go wrong and paid attention.

My wife wanted me to build her a mounting step so she could get on her horse. So I did. The top platform is 3'X 4' with 2, 1'wide steps to get up on it with. It's 4"X 4" framing with 2"X 12" boards for the decking and sides.
We have to move it with the skid loader. She says it looks like the pedestals they use in the circus for the elephants!
At least no horse is ever going to knock it over.

Nice job and now I want one even though I am a ground hunter. I recommend a spiral staircase, very cool and safe.
