We are planning on going. If the weathers looks nice we will bring our tent and camp. It's a great shoot with a great cause.

God Bless

Well, i WAS planning on going but the flyer says no elevated rests.

You can shoot an elevated rest if you don't shoot for score, just for fun.

Thats fine, but id be pretty upset if i drove 2 hours and am frowned upon because of my equipment. Never had issues with a flipper rest till i came to alabama.

We had a gentleman several years ago when I was on the board that wanted to shoot with a flipper rest. He had drive for several hours and I was not about to turn him away. I told him he could shoot for fun and he was fine with that. We marked his card with a circled 'F' and off he went, when he came back to shoot a second round we forgot to mark his card, no matter, he marked it for us, fine individual indeed. I recommend you send an e-mail to the president and VP and ask them if it would be okay, shouldn't be a problem.

No elevated rest rule should be changed. No one cares, the best shooter will win no matter what rest people shoot. Are all elevated rests flippers? no. So what is the difference between an elevated rest and any new radiuse shelf.......none. The rule does no safe flipper, it says elevated which in reality should eliminate almost all new bows. I think it is time the clubs take a look at their rules and consider a few changes to keep as many people coming as possible. Personally, I don't see any advantage to a flipper except it helps get better arrow flight. It does not help a persons ability to hit the 10 ring.

I agree with Sipsey John.I could care less what rest in on a bow. What about Bear Archerys 59 Kodiak. Is not the feather rest on that bow a raised rest ?Many of the ILF bows have tapped holes for multiple rest styles.Compound shooters and all the youth shooting Genesis bows, these people are our Trad clubs future.Members can change rules. You can add a new class.

Hi everyone. We hope to see everyone that can, come to this event. It's for a great cause and we have a lot of fun. I happen to be the Vice President of ASTB, and if you shoot from a rest we don't care and your still welcome to compete. We have allowed archers to use thumb rings, and elevated rests in the past during my tenure. Quite honestly it hasn't been brought up often. Rules in all sports do evolve over time and perhaps it is time to make the formal update to the flier. As far as Tony (club president)and I are concerned, just no stabilizers, mechanical releases or sights. The goal of all of the officers in ASTB is to promote our sport, create a fun family atmosphere and have fun in fellowship with each other. If anyone has any questions please feel free to pm me. Again, we would love to see everyone who can make this shoot, come out and have a great time.

Jon.........Thank you sir for posting. I appreciate your open mind and willing to be flexible. I wold like to suggest that for the next event consider making a new poster without the old rules. Thanks again, we salute you!

thanks 9/10 & sipsey. We just want to get people out to enjoy what we all have already found in our sport. I think if you asked 10 people what they think Traditional archery is, you'll get 10 different answers. But I think we can all agree somewhat on one thing on Traditional archery: no wheels! In my short time I've heard opinions from lamenated vs self bow, reflex/ deflex vs straight longbow, composite riser vs wood riser etc... But like sipsey said despite what the bow is made of or where the arrow is resting on the bow, it is still up to the shooter to make all this come together in pursuit of the perfect shot
