http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bob-Savage-Death-Master-Recurve-Bow-Made-In-1975-Or-76-60-At-28-/292061226493?hash=item440034a5fd:g:SIEAAOSwB-1Yzv3o

I would buy it now but...geeeez, a $1000 for an old bow.

That's E-bay for ya. I was very surprised to find something I wanted for a reasonable price not long ago.

Well, I hope Frisky is happy with himself. He's taken a mediocre bow, and a homely one at that, and with his own hot air inflated in into an overpriced legend.

Oh wait--this isn't the 'roasting' thread. Never mind.

I smell a rat. Those aren't Bob's tips, and he, to my knowledge, never used maple in the riser. He also put a gloss finish on his bows. I don't think this one was made by Bob. The only think right about it is the riser shape and heavy weight. It certainly isn't the Bow of Bows. Even if original, I wouldn't pay half the asking price for it.

You would know Frisky. I have yet to even hold one of them.

I thought the Holy Grail was turquoise? It must be a fake.

I owned on of Bob's bows, but it was a while back....likely near 30 years ago. I also shot one that Rocky Miller made but it was someone else's bow. I was a big Rocky Miller fan back then, but it was mostly for his Bridger Mountain longbows...which I really liked. I personally didn't see a lot of difference between the Savage and the Miller, but alas, I can only pretend to have the understanding of my neighbor to the northwest. As for the price, there are a lot of overpriced bows on Ebay....and on our classifieds. They usually are there for a long time too.

I knew a guy that kept claiming he had the form and was going to send me a template. It was in storage. He was a very good and very busy machinist. We met in the forums and it took forever to my risers back but he was superb. He would talk my ear off whenever we talked. I believed? him. I forget the details.. We would go long stretches without contact and then one day, there he was, gone.

I have called and pmd him and fear the worst at this point..

He always said the Savage was the chit. It would be nice to have the template and layup but now with border and uukha ilfs I really have little desire to build as nothing I can make is like these..

Here I thought Frisky was selling his when I read the title. For a $1000 it might be his. DANNY

not all impressed with that bow.

It might be a really good copy by someone else. Maybe a great shooter like most Deathmasters. However, a thousand bucks is crazy. There are a few original Bob Savage bows that would be worth more than a thousand.

The holes in the riser add value....

There was a light colored riser in my home town. It had black writing on it. If this is original it has been refinished. the one in my home town was not a one piece riser. The person that owned it sold it because he liked his Herters better.

Bob hated riser bushings too. I agree this one is a re-finish at best.

Similar profile to a Kodiak Hunter.

Anybody can add bushings at a later date after purchase. Doesn't look like any Deathmaster I've ever seen.

Frisky, wasn't bob done making the bows by 1975?

From: Shifty

That does not look like my Deathmaster.

Kelly- I'll look it up, but if Bob built after 75', it wasn't for long.
