TEXAS STATE LONGBOW CHAMPIONSHIP

Just got this year's snail mail (as every year for the past dozen).

Sherwood Range...near Fort Worth

24 year-old event. Big fun, wonderful people.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND May 27/28

WOOD ARROWS ONLY..you'll see some beauties.

LONGBOWS ONLY ...TSL rules: no pistol grip, no string touching limbs, measurements of thickness near riser. A team evaluates and certifies every bow... one of mine barely made it (extreme RD).

Convenient motels.. don't know about camping this year...

A river runs through it.

25 targets, interesting layouts

Buckes, dealers, trades.

Did they change to 25 targets, usually 50 each day.

From: Dkincaid
Date: 18-Mar-17

It's still 50

From: jk
Date: 18-Mar-17

Oops...Thanks for catching that. The way the flier's laid out it puts "25 Targets" immediately under "SHORT COURSE" ...

confirm the right number and other info here: [email protected]

Date: 18-Mar-17

I don't believe anything has changed regarding camping they haven't sent out anything about it to the club

From: Dkincaid

From: bradsmith2010santafe

You mean Memorial Day weekend.. Labor Day Weekend?

From: Dkincaid
Date: 18-Mar-17

Lots of buckles to be had

From: jk
Date: 18-Mar-17

Memorial Day. Another snafu. Sorry.

You think that's bad? Try the skeeters, cotton mouths, and tornados that sometimes feature. Poor New Mexico, so far from heaven, so close to Texas :-)

From: THarris
Date: 19-Mar-17

I'd love to make this event, was hoping to try this year.

Terry look me up if you do I'll be the tall guy looking for arrows behind every other target lol

From: THarris
Date: 19-Mar-17

So you'll be the one helping me find my arrows as well, that'll be great.

I have a question. Neither the wife's nor my longbows will meet the specifications.

Can we shoot for fun and not compete with our bows???

From: Dkincaid
Date: 19-Mar-17

I'd call David or email his as I don't know the answer to that question. I don't think you can as I haven't seen a fun round option but I am not certain. David is a really nice guy and will let you know for sure.

I plan on making it.

I may sleep in my SUV...the two times I've shot there I wouldn't want to have tent-camped and I do hate motels. One of those two times I was glad to have 4WD :-)

Missed the first year and only a couple times since. Great shoot fun times and the food truck last year was a nice touch. Even won several buckles.

From: Caddo
Date: 17-Apr-17

Holy Cow, Danny! I didn't know that they gave participation buckles! LOL!

Looks like you're doing well, long time, no see!

LD

From: Ric O'Shay
Date: 18-Apr-17

Hi LD !!

Participation buckles for old geezers! They felt sorry for me for making me walk through all 100 targets, climbing the cliff to pull arrows out of the goat and just so I would stop crying.

Hope you are doing well my friend!

From: Caddo
Date: 18-Apr-17

Doing well! Hoping to make it up this year, Momma thinks we may have different plans. Me, not so much!

THANK YOU

From: MedicineMan

It was great to get back to this shoot. It's my favorite course I've ever shot and love that it has a great mix of all kinds of different targets and shot setups. There was a lot more small targets this year it seemed like compared to the last couple times I made it to the shoot, but they help keep things interesting and on your toes for sure!

If you've never made it to this shoot before, its definitely one to mark your calendar's for next year on Memorial Day weekend to attend. You'll be glad you did!
