Folks, at this year's 2017 Howard Hill Southeastern Classic,, the "ONE SHOT~ONE KILL" should be really interesting.

The first five years had a beautiful hand made plaque. Rule was Howard Hill or Howard Hill Style bow and only wooden arrows could be used.

Last year the same applied but I opened it up to all arrows and a JET Bow was given away.

This year.....are ya ready, ALL LONGBOWS ARE ALLOWED, ALONG WITH ALL ARROWS. The winner will receive a Northern Mist Longbow.

THAT'S NOT ALL FOLKS!

NOW, RECURVE BOWS ARE ALLOWED, WITH ALL ARROWS. The winner will receive a Bear Archery Recurve.

Rule is: you can still only shoot it once, either Longbow or Recurve, STILL VERY CHALLENGING!

The cost is only $15.00, CAN YOU MEET THE CHALLENGE?

Doninic, I really haven't started a thread on the "Howard Hill Southeastern Classic" because I'm still promoting the Pre Spring Arrow Fling this coming weekend.

I just thought I'd start a little teaser about the "One Shot~One Kill" during the HH Classic.

The Howard Hill SE Classic is June 2, 3 & 4, 2017 at Tannehill State Park in McCalla, AL

For clarification, you will have two categories, recurve and longbow? The winner of the longbow category will get the Northern Mist, the winner of the recurve category will get the Bear recurve? Or does one winner win both bows? Sounds like a fun shoot!

Longbow, Northern Mist ~ Recurve, Bear Recurve , and, you can only shoot one or the other, not both.

To be honest, aren't there a hundred or so competitions where you can use whatever arrows you wish?... Isn't the point of your competition about a Howard Hill challange? If so, then an ASL and wooden arrows should be the only requirement...Why complicate things?

If the competition is about inclusivity, then why not just call it "one shot, one kill" competition and remove the Hill reference?

Well, Alex...you asked.

If you read this entire post, you would have noticed I DID do that very thing.

The first year, there were 38 participants, and it went down from there.

Now, I don't know if you've ever put on your own event, but, I went to a LOT, of extra effort to place an extra stake for this part of the competition, longer, much more thought to make this a fun, yet challenging process. The hand made, wall hanging plaques (as you can see) each had over 33 hours of labor in each one.

SO, I'm trying something different, if it doesn't garner more shooters, I'll stop the"One Shot~One Kill" competition at the Howard Hill Classic.

Letting everyone in one class would be bad, but two classes make perfect sense.

Howard didn't just shoot wooden arrows, including on some of his most iconic hunts, like the free range elephant hunt to unsuccessful brain shot (but he tried).

As I mentioned, one of the bows will be a "Northern Mist Longbow" made for the longbow winner.

I spoke with Neil Byce, with Bear Archery and he told me he'll be letting me know ASAP what model Bear Archery Recurve will be won by the recurve bow winner.

Something Terry is leaving out that may be a couple "selling points" for you coming or not. They have tons of vendors(last year I know there was black widow, BCY, big jim, JET archery, and the year before Byron Ferguson was there). It is a fun shoot!

Also, there are cabins, bath houses, camper spots, primitive campers, and some of the most beautiful scenery you will see.

A word of warning though.. if you want a camper spot, you better get there the weekend before. Last year got there on thursday and got THE LAST camper spot! lol.

An absolutely great shoot!
